April 27, 2011- City of Jeffersonville, Indiana
WHEREAS, the City of Jeffersonville, Indiana is located on the Ohio River in
Clark County, Indiana.
WHEREAS, the Ohio Valley and surrounding communities have been
deluged by rain, wind and hail for the past several weeks.
WHEREAS, the Ohio River is rising at a substantial rate and speed as a result
of the onslaught of rain.
WHEREAS, the mayor of the City of Jeffersonville, pursuant to Indiana Code
36 -4 -5- Et. Seq. has the duty to supervise subordinate officers, insure the
efficiency of government and provide for the public safety and welfare.
WHEREAS, as the result of the rain, rising river and threats of additional
tornado activity it is necessary that the mayor, upon his executive authority,
declare a statement of emergency for the citizens and city of Jeffersonville,
Indiana on this, April 27, 2011 said state of emergency to continue each day
hereafter until said emergency and threat of flooding, wind and tornado subsides.
SO DECLARED ON THIS 27 DAY OF APRIL, 2011.
