COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CiTY
OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
JUNE 16~ 1997
The Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville met in
regular session in the Multi-Purpose Meeting Room in the City-County
Building, Jeffersonville, Indiana, at 7:00 P.M. on the 16th day of
June, 1997.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Thomas R. Gatligan,
with Deputy Clerk Barbara Hollls at the desk. Mayor Galll~an welcomed
all in attendance, asking all those present to stand as Councilperson
Ron Ellis gave the invocation. He then asked all those present to

Mayor Galligan presented the minutes of the meeting of
1997 for consideration by the Council. Councilperson Perkins
made the motion to approve the minutes as presented, seconded by
Councitperson Conlin and carried unanimously..
Deputy Hollls presented the claim list, for consideration by
the Council, explaining three additional claims. Following all
discussion, Councilperson Perkins made the motion to approved the
claims as presented, seconded by Councilperson Williams, passing
unanimously.

Galligan wishes to work with Mr. Helm to make the property as valuable
as can be, saying don't hesitate to call if the City can be of any
help. Mr. Helm stated he is ready to come and talk to the Mayor. At

Attorney Sedwick Galligan thanked all for the kind words and
cards of congratulations. She then referred to an article in the
Courier Journal questioning if there may be a conflict of interest due
to her marriage to the Mayor. Attorney Sedwick Gatligan explained it
is the same as it has always been, the City Attorney is an employee of
the Mayor representing the executive branch. As long as there is no
conflict between the Mayor and the Council it is the same as when they
were not married. Attorney Sedwlck Galligan also represents the Plan
Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, Redevelopment, etc. If there is

article in the Courier Journal where he was voted the highest ranking
scoundrel. He is delighted that he is at the opposite end of the
spectrum from Pepper Cooper. Mayor Galligan thanked all for their
good thoughts and well wishes. He looks forward to coming back from
Finland with a resolve.
There being no further business to come before the Council,
Councitperson Perkins moved to adjourn at 7:30 o'clock P.M. seconded
