A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF HAVEN HOUSE
SERVICES, INC.
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville ("the
Council") recognizes that homelessness is a significant social problem in the City
of Jeffersonville, Indiana ("the City") and in the entire metropolitan Louisville area;
and
WHEREAS, the Council believes that it has a responsibility to support
those social service agencies that provide services to the homeless members of
this community; and
WHEREAS, Haven House Services, Inc. ("Haven House") is the leading
provider of services to the homeless in the City; and
WHEREAS, Haven House recently acquired a two hundred thousand
dollar ($200,000.00) Indiana Housing Finance Authority grant to allow Haven
House to acquire and renovate five (5) apartment buildings on Colonial Park
Drive in the City to be used as transitional housing for the homeless;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that the Council
supports Haven House in all its activities providing services to the homeless of
the City and specifically in its efforts to provide transitional housing on Colonial
Park Drive; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY FURTHER RESOLVED that the
Council hereby recognizes Haven House as the official entity for the study of
homelessness in the City; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY FURTHER RESOLVED that the
Council applauds Haven House for its success in acquiring grant funds to enable
it to provide services to the homeless and supports all of Haven House's efforts
to acquire further funds to provide additional services to the homeless in our
community.
