and Tourism Bureau's Welcoming Center
Dear Dick:
On March 25, 1997, the City of Jeffersonville's Street
Department replaced street signs in front of the Louisville
Municipal Bridge Building now the home of the Clark/Floyd
Counties Convention and Tourism Bureau naming the formerly
Southern Indiana Avenue to Illinois Avenue.
In response to the change of name, thousands of dollars of
printed material have been sent out with the new address. They
have not just been sent out for casual correspondence, they have
been sent out as promotional items throughout the United States
and they have been sent to attract people here. It causes
confusion and it makes obsolete a number of~our printed material
and accordingly to the article in the Jeffersonville Evening
News, it was done as a retaliatory action and we would like to
see it a copy of the actual ordinance that was enacted on March
17th to change. Whatever was presented on March 17th should
certainly be part of your custodial records and if you would I
would like a certified copy.
