HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-29-02July 29, 2002 COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA JULY 29, 2002 The Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville, Indiana met in special session in the Mayor's Conference Room in the City-County Building, Jeffersonville, Indiana at 7:00 P.M. on the 29th day of July 2002. Mayor Thomas R. Galligan, with Clerk Treasurer Peggy Wilder at the desk, called the meeting to order. Also present were City Attorney Anne Marie Galligan, and Deputy Clerk Barbara Hollis. The roll was called and those present were; Councilpersons Les Merkley, Ron Ellis, Barbara Wilson, Ron Grooms, and Vicki Conlin. Absent: Councilpersons Rob Waiz and Denny Frantz. Councilperson Grooms asked the Council to listen to a presentation ~om Mr. Paul Crouse, representing Paradigm Solutions Group, and Mr. Toby Woolcott and Mr. Trent Oakley, representing Full Circle 'Registry. The gentlemen explained their programs saying it would save the City money. Following all questions and answers, Mayor Galligan asked them to contact the office and let them know what numbers are needed. Clerk Treasurer Wilder presented and explained Ordinance No. 2002-oR-16, An Ordinance Authorizing The Jeffersonville City Clerk Treasurer To Seek A Temporary Short Term Loan In Anticipation Of Current Revenue Pursuant To Indiana Code 36-4-6-20. City Attorney Galligan has talked with Mr. Buddy Downs, an attorney with Ice Miller, for information on general obligation bonds for longer terms. A Sanitation user fee was mentioned. Councilperson Frantz arrived at 7:55 P.M. Councilperson Grooms made the motion suspend the rules for Ordinance No. 2002-OR- 16, seconded by Council President Frantz, failing on a vote of 5-1. Councilperson Ellis voted against suspension. Councilperson Grooms then made the motion to pass Ordinance No. 2002- OR-16 on the first reading, seconded by Councilperson Frantz, passing in the following roll call vote: Ayes: Councilperson Frantz, Grooms, Wilson, and Conlin. Nays: Councilpersons Ellis and Merkley. July 29, 2002 2 Councilperson Conlin would like to see the City look at other companies that offer the types of programs presented this evening. Councilperson Wilson has been receiving calls asking if them will be a sewer rate reduction this summer. Mayor Galligan and Attomey Galligan said reductions will be given. There being no further business to come before the Council, Councilperson Grooms made the motion to adjourn at 8:05 P.M., seconded by Councilperson Conlin, and passed unanimously.
