Dear Chief Pavey:
Recently I had the opportunity to meet with the Department to discuss the operations for the
City of Jeffersonville. One of the main Objectives of the Risk Control Department is to assist
Alliance participants in reducing any existing and/or potential liability exposures, which may
be present in their daily operations.
Upon review of the information that I received during our conversations, I will be submitting
one (1) recommendation relating to the Department.
· The Department should review any existing reciprocal or mutual aid agreements with
other agencies for updating where necessary. We strongly urge that you replace
verbal er outdated agreements With written documents that set forth guidelines that
meet the needs of the agencies involved. (A copy of a model Mutual Aid Agreement
has als0 been included for your use as resource material. Please keep in mind this
policy is applicable for the state of Michigan. Have your attorney review to ensure
that it adheres to Indiana state s!atutes.)
I am asking that your office respond in Writin,q to the Risk Control Department, within the
next 30 days~ indicating the status or intent to implement the above recommendations.
Please also indicate a time frame for thils implementation.
As you have questions regarding areasOf liability exposure, or if we can be of service in
other ways, please call the R sk Control Department. We look forward to a continued cordial
and productive working relationship with the City of Jeffersonville.
