A RESOLUTION REQUESTING ADJUSTMENTS TO THE CITY OF
JEFFERSONVILLE 1999 BUDGET
WHEREAS, In September 1998, the City of Jeffersonville (the "City")
advertised a proposed 1999 tax levy of $9,855,061.00 and estimated that the
actual tax rate for 1999 would be approximately $4.50; and
WHEREAS, on September 21, 1998 the Jeffersonville Common Council
(the "Council") adopted the City's 1999 budget fixing the 1999 tax levy at
$9,833,887.00 with an estimated tax rate of $4.50; and
WHEREAS, on December 16, 1998, the State Board of Tax
Commissioners (the "State Board") gave the City written notice, pursuant to
Indiana Code 6-1.1-17-16(d), proposing to increase the City's 1999 tax rate from
the $4.50 rate the Council estimated; and
WHEREAS, the Council has reviewed the State Board's written notice
and intends this Resolution as the Council's written response; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Indiana Code 6-1.1-17-16(d), the State Board
must make reductions in the City's 1999 budget as specified in this response if
this response is provided to the State Board on or before December 23, 1998;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the Common
Council of the City of Jeffersonville, Indiana, that it specifically and
affirmatively finds that the City's 1999 budget shall be reduced as follows:
The operating balance of Fund 0101 (commonly known as the General
Fund) shall be reduced by $90,000.00 to $160,921.00.
The operating balance of Fund 0341 (commonly known as the Firefighter
Pension Fund) shall be reduced by $30,000.00 to $11,373.00.
The operating balance of Fund 0342 (commonly:known as the Police
Pension Fund) shall be reduced by $30,000.00 to $9,118.00.
The operating balance of Fund 2203 (commonly known as the Building
Rent Fund) shall be reduced by $50,000.00 to $17,321.00.

The operating balance of Fund 1303 (commonly known as the Parks and
Recreation Fund) shall be reduced by $30,000.00 to $11, 595.00.
The operating balance of Fund 2203 (commonly known as the Sanitation
Fund) shall be reduced by $50;000.00 to $26,933.00.
