Resolution of Support for the 1999 Great American Main Street Awards
LET IT BE RESOLVED that the economic, social, and cultural health of downtown
Jeffersonville's Business District plays a key role in the overall health of the City of
Jeffersonville;
AND, LET IT BE RESOLVED that the City of Jeffersonville fully supports and
h~rough its revolving loan program, use of tax abatements, and time and financial contributions
to the economic revitalization effort, and commitment to maintaining local government offices
in the downtown area, fully participates in the efforts to revitalize the downtown business
district;
AND, LET IT BE RESOLVED that the City of Jeffersonville believes the downtown
revitalization efforts in Jeffersonville consists of a strong, progressive, broad-based movement
to: encourage economic development through job creation, business advocacy, and new
construction projects; to promote existing businesses through events and marketing; and to
augment the aesthetics of the downtown area through renovation of existing buildings, public
improvements projects, and private/public partnerships;
THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED that the City of Ieffersonville fully supports
Jeffersonville Main Street, Inc.'s entry into the 1999 Great American Main Street Awards
competition.
