HomeMy WebLinkAbout1998-R-27 RESOLUTION NO. 98-R-27 RESOLUTION REFERRING PROPOSAL TO AMEND ZONING ORDINANCE WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville, Indiana (hereinafter the Council) believes that in order to best protect the public health, safety ~nd welfare, it is necessary to amend the exis~ting zoning ordinance; and WHEREAS in order to amend the existing zoning ordinance, the Council must refer its proposal for amendment to the Jeffersonville Plan Commission for its consideration and recommendation pursuant to the requirements of I.C. 36-7-4-607(b). NOW THEREFORE the Council does hereby refer one proposal for amendment to the Jeffersonville Zoning Ordinance attached hereto as Exhibit ^ to the Plan Commission for its consideration and recommendation pursuant to I.C. 36-7-4-607. Galiigan, I~ayor¢ ' ordinance ~ OR~ AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CERTAIN PORTIONS OF THE JEFFERSONVILLE BUILDING CODE WHEREAS, WHEREAS, WHEREAS, WHEREAS, NOW, the older sections of Jeffersonville have numerous vacant lots that are more narrow than building lots in newly approved developments, and ~ it is in the best interest the taxpayers of the City of Jeffersonville to promote the buildSng of affordable single- family housing on these lots, and the development of new housing in our older neighborhoods will help upgrade property values, and the development of housing in close proximity to our downtown business district will help these businesses grow, and the Common'Council of the City of Jeffersonville desires to make available these lots for single family in-fill housing, THEREFORE LET IT BE ORDAINED BY THE COMMON cOUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE SECTIOM 1 Any provisions of the jeffersonville Zoning Ordinance pertaining to the minimum width or depth of bu£idin~ lo~m, in a.reas that have been previously developed, are hereby repealed. SECTION 2 The new side and rear setback requirements shall be no more than ten percent of the width or depth cf said lot. SECTION 3 The Building Commissioner of the City Of jeffersonville shall have the authority to deviate from this standard if particular circ%~stances of a lot so diotate~ SECTION ~ A portfolio of suitable house plans will be developed by the City of jeffersonvilie Building Commissioner's office. Only one of these plans will be allowed to be built on one of these infill lots.
