MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
JANUARY 3, 2007
Mayor Waiz called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were:
City Engineer Miller and Councilperson Perkins.
Also present were: Fire Chief Miles, Assistant Police Chief Lovan, Vehicle Maintenance Director
Drury, Building Commissioner Segraves, City Attorney Merkley, Personnel Director Calabro, Street
Commissioner Ellis, Councilperson Wilson, Planning and Zoning Director Hicks, Redevelopment
. Director Cahill, and Deputy Clerk Mayfield.
Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll, seconded by Councilperson Perkins
and carried unanimously.
Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the minutes of 12-13-06 and 12-20-06 as
presented and seconded by Mayor Waiz. Councilperson Perkins abstained as he was not
present for these meetings.
OLD BUSINESS
KNUCKLEBOOM LOADER-
Engineer Miller made the motion to reject the bid from Best Equipment on the Knuckleboom
Loader, seconded by Councilperson Perkins and carried unanimously. Street Commissioner
Ellis said the loader did not meet the standards expected. It is to be re-bid.
LEASE BETWEEN CITY AND BUILDING AUTHORITY FOR CITY HALL-
Councilperson Perkins made the motion to approve the one year lease between the City and
Building Authority in the amount of$209,755.00 to be paid in two installments, seconded by
Engineer Miller and carried unanimously.
CITY SERVICES CONSTRUCTION BID-
City Attorney Merkley told the Board that AML is the low bidder for Fire Station #2 and #4.
Architect Hal Kovert recommended that the bid be approved. The bid is in the amount of
$9,399,000.00. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the bid from AML, seconded by
r, Councilperson Perkins and carried unanimously.

STREET LIGHTS-
Councilperson Perkins said some residents of Arctic Springs voiced their concern about
needing street lights. Engineer Miller said the street lights are already in the works.
CLAIM-
Councilperson Perkins said Steven Petters will be contacting the Mayor to submit a claim on '
damages done due to concrete in the sewer. Mayor Waiz said that he had already talked with
Mr. Petters and that they were planning to meet.
There being no further discussion to come before the Board, Engineer Miller made the
motion to adjourn the meeting at 10:20 a.m., seconded by Councilperson Perkins and carried
unanimously.
