HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-29-2006 MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA NOVEMBER 29, 2006 Mayor Waiz called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call ofthe roll those members present were: Engineer Miller and Councilperson McCauley. Also present were: Fire Chief Miles, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, Building Commissioner Segraves, Planning and Zoning Director Hicks, Councilperson Wilson, Personnel Director Calabro, Parks Director Poff, City Attorney Merkley, Street Commissioner Ellis, Redevelopment Director Cahill: IT Director Hardy, Assistant Police Chief Lovan, and Deputy Clerk Mayfield. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll, seconded by Councilperson McCauley and carried unanimously. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the minutes of 11-15-06 and 11-22-06, seconded by Councilperson McCauley and carried unanimously. KEN ELLIS CENTER PAY APPLICATION #3 Councilperson McCauley made the motion to approve Pay Application #3 for the Ken Ellis Center in the amount of$36,141.71, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. HEALTH INSURANCE Councilperson McCauley made the motion to approve extending the health insurance contract with the same benefits through December 31, 2007 and amended to include disease management, health assessment, and a 24 hour nursing hotline, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. JERRY HAMBAUGH RE: METHADONE CLINIC Jerry Hambaugh of 1112 Roosevelt Drive asked for help for him and his neighbors in the area around the methadone clinic. He said patients of the clinic are parking on Reed's Lane while waiting for the clinic to open and well as the clinic parking lot. He asked the city to look into this matter. He said patients arrive there at all hours waiting for the clinic to open. Assistant Police Chief Lovan said the County police work the security there and people have been arrested in the past. He said the clinic's parking lot is private property and the police have no control over patients parking in the lot. Lovan said he would contact the squad commanders to step up patrols in the area for speeding and he will also contact the clinic to let the owner know that patients are showing up early. PERRIN LANE ROAD CLOSURE Engineer Miller made the motion to close one block of Perrin Lane to Cheryl Drive for approximately three days to install a storm sewer, seconded by Councilperson McCauley and carried unanimously. LIGHT REPLACEMENT Mayor Waiz said there is a light on a pole in Arctic Springs that needs to be replaced. Engineer Miller will take care of it. ANNEXATION MEETING Councilperson McCauley told the Department Heads there is an annexation meeting at 7:30 pm at the First Christian Church on Middle Road and all department heads are invited to attend. ~ ~ , There being no further discussion to come before the Board, Councilperson McCauley made the motion to adjourn the meeting at 10:30 a.m., seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously.
