HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-16-2006 r MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA August 16,2006 Mayor Waiz called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were: City Engineer Miller and Councilperson McCauley. Also present were: Fire Chief Miles, Assistant Police Chief Lovan, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, Building Commissioner Segraves, City Attorney Merkley, Parks Director Poff, Personnel Director Calabro, IT Director Hardy, Councilperson Sellers, Councilperson Wilson, Planning and Zoning Director Hicks, Redevelopment Director Cahill, and Deputy Clerk Mayfield. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll, seconded by Councilperson McCauley and carried unanimously. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the minutes of 7-26-06, 8-2-06, and 8-9-06, seconded by Councilperson McCauley and carried unanimously. MAPLE STREET PROPERTY- City Attorney Merkley spoke about the Maple Street property owned by Mr. Allen that was demolished by the City in 1999 or 2000. A lien was never placed on the property for the cost of demolishing the structure. In his opinion, since the City did not place the lien during the two-year statute oflimitation he recommends that the Board of Public Works send a letter to Mr. Allen stating that the City does not intend to file a lien on the property because the statute of limitation has expired. Councilperson McCauley made the motion to approve City Attorney Merkley sending a letter to Mr. Allen stating that no lien will be placed on the property, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. DRIVEWAY AT 2115 ALLISON LANE- Property owner Bernie Harris came before the Board in regard to motorists on Allison Lane driving onto his driveway as they pass vehicles that are turning into the apartments. He said they are doing damage to his driveway and when it rains is doing damage to his yard as well. He would like something done about this. Mayor Waiz said he would meet with Mr. Harris at the site to try finding a solution to this problem. r" RIVER BREEZE STREET CLOSURE- Councilperson McCauley made the motion to approve closing the 100 block of Chestnut Street between Chestnut and Pearl Streets on September 7, 2006 from 11 :00 am through 9:00 am on September 8, 2006 for River Breeze, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. Proceeds will go to City Pride and tickets are $20.00. There being no further discussion to come before the Board, City Engineer Miller made the motion to adjourn the meeting at 10:00 a.m., seconded by Councilperson McGauley and carried unanimously. ~ U' CLERK ~ER
