OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
JUNE 21, 2006
Mayor Waiz called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were:
Councilperson McCauley and City Engineer Miller.
Also present were: Street Commissioner Ellis, Asst. Police Chief Lovan, Planning and Zoning Director
Hicks, Building Commissioner Segraves, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Vehicle Maintenance
Director Drury, Asst Parks Director Couts, CoUncilperson Perkins, Councilperson Wilson, IT Director
Hardy, Personnel Director Calabro, Redevelopment Director Cahill, Fire Chief Miles, City Attorney
Merkley and Deputy Clerk Mayfield.
Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll, seconded by Councilperson
McCauley and carried unanimously.
BID OPENING ON PERRIN LANE SIDEWALKS
Jorge Lanz of Jacobi, Toombs, and Lanz opened bids from:
Team Contracting- $239,980.00
Kaufman Construction- $259,436.80
Pace Contracting- $249,000.00
Engineer Miller made the motion to take the bids under advisement for one week, seconded
by Councilperson McCauley and carded unanimously.
JEFF-CHARLESTOWN PIKE SIDEWALK PHASE ONE AWARD OF BID
Councilperson McCauley made the motion to ac~cept the bid of Pace Contracting in the
amount of $217,000.00 to perform the work on the Jeff-Charlestown Pike Sidewalk Phase
One, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously.
SOLICITORS PERMIT

Lake Superior in Louisville asked the Board's approval to go door-to-door
selling Kirby vacuums and supplies. After discUssion, Councilperson McCauley made the
motion to approve the solicitor permit, seconded by Engineer Miller and carded unanimously.
VENDOR PERMIT
Karen Wihlon came before the Board to request a vendor permit to sell hot dogs and soft
drinks near the JeffBoat parking lot. She said she has done this in Louisville and would like
to try it here. After discussion, Councilperson McCauley made the motion to approve the
vendor permit, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously.
OFFSITE SALE
Lloyd Bussey, Sales Manager at Green Tree Toyota came before the Board for permission to
hold an offsite sale in the K-Mark parking lot. He has already gotten permission from K-
Mart. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the offsite sale, seconded by
Councilperson McCauley and carried unanimously.
NEIGHBORHOOD PROBLEMS
Pat Thompson of 1712 Spring Street complained of loud noise, common nuisance, fire code
violations and OSHEA violations at 1706 Spring Street. Assistant Police ChiefLovan said he
would check out the problem.
REQUEST FOR APPLEBY'S
Councilperson Perkins along with Vicki Appleby came before the Board to discuss the
possibility of installing an awning to Appleby's and extending the sidewalk in front to
provide more outside dining. It would take up approximately two parking spaces. Planning
and Zoning Director Hicks said he would look at the location and City Attorney Merkley said
he would check the ordinances on outdoor displays. Councilperson McCauley said he would
be more open to the idea if city funds weren't used to pay for it. Safety concerns are also an
issue. After discussion, Councilperson McCauley made the motion to table this until next
week, seconded by Engineer Miller and carded unanimously.
There being no further discussion to come before the Board the motion was made by Councilperson
McCanley to adjourn at 10:20 a.m., seconded by City Engineer Miller and carded unanimously.
