OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
MAY 24, 2006
In Mayor Waiz absence Engineer Miller called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll
those members present were: Street Commissioner Ellis and Fire Chief Miles.
Also present were: Asst. Police Chief Lovan, Planning and Zoning Director Hicks, Building
Commissioner Segraves, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, Parks
Director Poff, Wastewater Treatment Director Crawford, Personnel Director Calabro, Redevelopment
Director Cahill, IT Director Hardy, City Attorney Merkley and Deputy Clerk Mayfield.
Street Commissioner Ellis made the motion to approve the payroll, seconded by Fire Chief
Miles and carded unanimously.
Street Commissioner Ellis made the motion to approve the minutes of 5-3-06 and 5-10-06,
seconded by Fire Chief Miles and carried unanimously.
Street Commissioner Ellis made the motion to approve the claims as presented, seconded by
Fire Chief Miles and carried unanimously.
POSTHUMOUS PROMOTION-
Firefighter Rick VanGilder came before the Board representing the Firefighter's Union, Chief
Miles, and Assistant Chief Decker to ask the Board's approval to promote Firefighter Dwight
Same to Captain posthumously. Mr. Same was injured in an accident many years ago and
never recovered. He remained in a coma and passed away recently. Street Commissioner
Ellis made the motion to approve the promotion of Dwight Same to Captain posthumously,
seconded by Fire Chief Miles and carried unanimously.
ROADBLOCK-
Stacy Hickerson on behalf of Team Jeffersonville Wrestling Club asked the Board to approve
a roadblock to raise money for a trip to Turkey. Engineer Miller told her that no roadblocks
are allowed in the City because of safety issues. He suggested she request approval from the
County.
SPEED LIMIT AND STOP SIGN REQUEST-
Engineer Miller said A and R Transport Inc. has requested a speed limit and stop sign on
Keystone at Utica-Sellersburg Road. Assistant Police Chief Lovan said he would check the
location. Fire Chief Miles made the motion to table this until the next meeting, seconded by
Street Commissioner Ellis and carried unanimoUsly.
There being no further discussion to come before the Board the motion was made by Street
Commissioner Ellis to adjourn at 10:00 a.m.i seconded by Fire Chief Miles and Can/ed unanimously.
