HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-27-2006MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVlLLE, INDIANA March 27, 2006 Councilperson McCauley called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were: Assistant Police Chief Mark Lovan and Fire Chief Clark Miles. ' ' Also present were: Planning and Zoning Director Hicks, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, Building Commissioner Segraves, City Attorney Merkley, Parks Director Poff, Personnel Director Calabro, Redevelopment Director Cahill, Assistant Engineer Lanham, Street Department Louis Galligan, and Chief Deputy Clerk Bass. Chief Miles made the motion to approve the payroll, seconded by Asst. Chief Lovan and carried unanimously. NEW BUSINESS Thunder Charles Alvey, 32 E 18th St, New Albany appeared before the Board requesting permission to park a small RV on the riverfront for Thunder. The Board informed Mr. Alvey that it could not permit this because this obstructs the view of others on the riverbank. Asst. ChiefLovan suggested that he talk to Kye's because they allow handicap and RV Parking. Residential Parking Sandra Moreland, 220 E Market St., appeared before the Board requesting a residential parking only permit. She lives across from K of C and has trouble finding a parking space on the weekends. Asst Chief Lovan said that he wil! have an officer check it out and will be in touch with her: He also reminded her that there is a cos of $100.00 a year for the permit. Moving Houses Stephen Edwards, Edwards House Movers, appeared before the Board with a request to move 3 houses (route and schedule attached). Asst. Chief Lovan said that although much of the route is in the County, normally the City handles it. The motion was made by Chief Miles to approve the moving of the houses, seconded by Asst. Chief Lovan and passed unanimously: Street Closing Bob McCoy, Vectren Electric, appeared before the Board to request the closing of Fabricon Blvd at Hamburg Pike to install pipe. This should only take about 2 - 4 hours starting around 8:00 am on April 3, 2006. Mr. McCoy will notify the newspaper. The motion was made by Chief Miles to approve the street closure seconded by Asst. Chief Lovan and passed unanimously. Asst. Engineer Lanham requested closing St. Andrews Rd today through Friday for drainage improvements. The motion was made by Chief Miles to approve this request seconded by Asst. Chief Lovan and passed unanimously. The motion was made by Asst. Chief Lovan tO approve the claims as presented, seconded by Chief Miles and passed unanimously. There being no further discussion to come before the Board, Chief Miles made the motion to adjourn the meeting at 10:15 a.m., seconded by Asst. Chief Lovan and carried unanimously.
