OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
MARCH 15, 2006
Mayor Waiz called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were:
Fire Chief Miles sitting in for Councilperson McCauley and City Engineer Miller.
Also present were: Street Commissioner Ellis, Asst. Police Chief Lovan, Plarming and Zoning Director
Hicks, Building Commissioner Segraves, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Vehicle Maintenance
Director Drury, Assistant Parks Director Couts, Personnel Director Calabro, Redevelopment Director
Cahill, Fire Chief Miles, City Attorney Merkley and Deputy Clerk Mayfield.
Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll, seconded by Fire Chief Miles and
carded unanimously.
Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the minutes of 3-8-06, seconded by Fire Chief
Miles and carded unanimously.
OLD BUSINESS
MILLING CONTRACT-
Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the bid of Mid America Milling, seconded by
Fire Chief Miles and carried unanimously.
NEW BUSINESS
1101 LOCUST STREET-
City Attorney Merkley said he has looked into the issues surrounding property at 1101 Locust
Street which was discussed last week. He requested that this be tabled for thirty days to look
at other solutions. Fire Chief Miles made the motion to approve tabling this for thirty days,
seconded by Engineer Miller and carded unanimously.
VETERANS PARKWAY/WOEHRLE ROAD BID-
No bids were received. Engineer Miller said the job would be re-bid.
QUEEN CITY RIVER BOATS OF DAYTON, KENTUCKY-
Kelly Hammell appeared before the Board to ask permission to dock and pick up passengers
at Duffy's Landing during Thunder Over Louisville. Mayor Waiz told her the river is pretty
shallow there. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve docking and pickup at Duffy's
Landing, seconded by Fire Chief Miles and carded unanimously.
HOUSING AUTHORITY CONTRACT-
Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the contract with the Housing Authority for
security from April 2006 throught October 2006 in the Greenwood area, seconded by Fire
Chief Miles and carded unanimously. The Police department will be reimbursed by the
Housing Authority.
CITATION-223 PEARL STREET-
Building Commissioner Segraves told the Board he cited property owner Dennis Williams on
March 2, 2005 for maintenance violations at 223 Pearl Street. Mr. Williams has been fined
$500.00 per month since that time. His total to date is $5,500.00. Mr. Williams submitted a
letter outlining what he has done and what remains to be done. Engineer Miller made the
motion to give Mr. Williams until Memorial Day to complete the rest of the work, seconded
by Fire Chief Miles and carried unanimously.
CHANGE ORDER #9/CITY HALL-
Engineer Miller made the motion to approve Change Order #9 deducting $3,318.00 from the
contract, seconded by Fire Chief Miles and carded unanimously.
REPAIR TO RAILROAD TRACK AT SPRING STREET-
Engineer Miller made the motion to close a portion of Spring Street next Friday in order for
repairs to be done to the railroad track on Spring Street by the Estopinal Group's office,
seconded by Fire Chief Miles and carded unanimously.
There being no further discussion to come before the Board the motion was made by City Engineer
Miller to adjourn at 10:lO a.m., seconded by Fire Chief Miles and carried unanimously.
