HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-21-2005MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA DECEMBER 21, 2005 Mayor Waiz called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were: City Engineer Miller. Also present were: Street Commissioner Ellis, Fire Chief Miles, Police Officer Morlan, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, Building Commissioner Segraves, City Attorney Merkley, Councilperson Wilson, Administrator Davis, Personnel Director Calabro, Redevelopment Director Cahill, and Deputy Clerk Mayfield. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll, and seconded by Mayor Waiz. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the minutes of 12-7-05 and 12-14-05, and seconded by Mayor Waiz and carried unanimously. SOLICITOR PERMIT · Michael Richardson of Edward Jones Company requested a solicitor's permit to go door to door during daylight hours. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the permit, and seconded by Mayor Waiz. MART1N LUTHER KING JR. EVENT Janice Leavell appeared before the Board to request a parade permit f6r January 16, 2005. The parade will begin at the City County Building and end at Bethel AME Church. The police department will go over the parade route with her. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the parade permit, and seconded by Mayor Waiz. FIRE STATION #2 AND #4 AGREEMENT Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the agreement between the City of Jeffersonville and Kovert Hawkins Architect, and seconded by Mayor Waiz. JOHN KENYON EYE CENTER Engineer Miller made the motion to renew the contract between the City of Jeffersonville and John Kenyon Eye Center with no changes, and seconded by Mayor Waiz. COMMENTS: Fire Chief Miles asked the board to approve hiring David Cassidy to replace retiring fireman Mike Koontz. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the hire, and seconded by Mayor Waiz. Building Commissioner Segraves said Glenn Muncy has been ill so he hasn't been able to inspect the building at 228 Spring Street.
