HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-15-2006MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA FEBRUARY 15, 2006 Mayor Waiz called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were: Assistant Police Chief Lovan sitting in for Councilperson McCauley and City Engineer Miller. Councilperson McCauleyjoined the meeting at 9:50 am. Also present were: Building Commissioner Segraves, City Attorney Merkley, Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, Street Commissioner Ellis, Assistant Police Chief Lovan, Redevelopment Director Cahill, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Wastewater Treatment Director Crawford, Councilperson Barbara Wilson, Planning and Zoning Director Hicks, and Deputy Clerk Mayfield. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by Assistant Police Chief Lovan and carded unanimously. !AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION HEART WALK Jane Comett appeared before the Board to ask approval to have the annual Heart Walk on September 30, 2006. She requested that Exit 1 and Missouri Avenue in front of Kye's be closed Saturday morning from 9:30 to 11:30 am. The walk will begin at Kye's II and continue over the 2nd Street bridge and down to Louisville Slugger Field, then turn around and walk back the same route to end at Kye's II. Louisville walkers will do the opposite. Assistant Police Chief Lovan made the motion to approve the Heart Walk and street closure, seconded by Engineer Miller and carded unanimously. HOWARD STEAMBOAT MUSEUM CHAUTAUQUA Yvoune Knight asked the Board to give approval to hold the annual Chautauqua at the museum on May 20th and 21st, 2006. The theme this year is "Women at the Wheel". She requested help from the police department with security. She will need tables from the Parks Department and roadblocks from the Street Department. Mayor Waiz said her requests would be no problem. /----. KENTUCKIANA YACHTSALES Assistant Police Chief Lovan made the motion to approve a permit for Kentuckiana Yacht Sales to transfer oversize boats from their building to Spring Street for 2006, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. CITATION-414 KNOBLOCH AVENUE AND 409 E. MARKET STREET Building Commissioner Segraves cited Chris Crawford who owns property at 414 Knobloch Avenue and 409 E. Market Street for exterior maintenance violations. Mr. Crawford did not appear before the Board after being notified. After discussion, Engineer Miller made the motion to give Mr. Crawford two weeks to clean up the property, thereafter he will be fined $I00.00 per day until the cleanup is done, seconded by Councilperson McCauley and carried unanimously. The citation was served by certified mail. JENNIFER WILCOX CONSULTING Councilperson McCauley made the motion to approve the agreement with Jennifer Wilcox Consulting to provide Meeting Facilitation Services for the City of Jeffersonville to assist in the completion of it's Comprehensive Plan not to exceed $1,800.00, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. There being no further discussion to come before the Board the motion was made by Engineer Miller to adjourn at 10:0~0 a.m., ~a)ded by Councilperson McCauley and carded unanimously. CLERK ~--'RE~)RER
