HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-07-2005MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA DECEMBER 07, 2005 Mayor Waiz called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members presem were: Councilperson Sellers and City Engineer Miller. Also present were: Street Commissioner Ellis, Asst. Police Chief Lovan, Planning and Zoning Director Hicks, Building Commissioner Segraves, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Vehicle Maintenance Director Dmry, Parks Director Poff, Wastewater Treatment Director Crawford, Administrator Davis, Personnel Director Calabro, Redevelopment Director Cahill, City Attorney Merkley and Deputy Clerk Mayfield. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll, seconded by Councilperson Sellers and cmried unanimously. Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the minutes of 11-16, 11-23-05, and 11- 30-05, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the claims, seconded by Councilperson Sellers and carded unanimously. VOICE DATA PROJECT Tim Caudill of the Estopinal Group told the Board that five quotes were received for the Voice Data Project. The budget is set at $55,000.00 for this. Quotes were received from: Data Network Tech., Smart Cabling, Strategic Communication, Arrow Electric, and SBC Ameritech. Councilperson Sellers made the motion to take the quotes under advisement, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. T.M WELLS VALUATION SERVICES Mr. Wells asked the Board to approve additional money to complete the fixed asset project. Mayor Waiz said he would talk to Clerk Treasurer Wilder about where the money is coming from to pay it. Councilperson Sellers made the motion to table until next week, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. APPROVAL TO HIRE Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury asked approval to hire for an open position in Vehicle Maintenance. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the hiring, seconded by Councilperson Sellers and carried unanimously. COMMENTS: Administrator Davis said we are paying about $4,000.00 a month to Bell South for our current phone service. Mayor Waiz told Davis to set up a meeting with Carla. Parks Director Poff thanked everyone for help on Light-Up Jeff. Personnel Director Calabro said flu shots would be given from 9-11 a.m. on December 8, 2005. Planning and Zoning Director Hicks asked what cell phone service we will be using next year. Mayor Waiz said he is checking into this. Assistant Police Chief Lovan said he received information on the hypodermic needle policy and the police department will be assisting. Councilperson Sellers asked if for sale signs would.be put up on the Tenth and Spring Street property. Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury said Coyle Chevrolet is going to let him try out the Dodge Charger and the Chevy Impala since the Ford Crown Victoria's will be done away with. There.being no further discussion to come before the Board the motion was made by Councilperson Sellers to adj.oxm~t 10:10 a.m., seconded by City Engineer Miller and carded unanimously.
