HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-31-2005MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA AUGUST 31, 2005 Mayor Waiz called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were: Building Commissioner Segraves sitting in for Councilperson Sellers and City Engineer Miller. Also present were: Building Commissioner Segraves, Administrator Davis, City Attomey Merkley, Vehicle Maintenance Director Dmry, Street Commissioner Ellis, Police Chief Ashabrarmer, Redevelopment Director Cahill, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Parks Director Poll, Wastewater Treatment Director Crawford,'Planning and Zoning Director Hicks, Fire Chief Miles, and Deputy Clerk Lynne Mayfield. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by Building Commissioner Segraves and carried unanimously. FUEL BIDS Mayor Waiz made the motion to award the fuel bid to Makowsky Oil Company, seconded by Building Commissioner Segraves. City Engineer Miller abstained. 123 AND 125 SPRING STREET Dennis Julius and Joe Lee appeared before the Board in regard to the two fire damaged houses at 123 and 125 Spring Street. Mr. Julius said the houses are vacant and beyond repair. He would like to demolish the houses and put a parking lot in. Mr. Keith Staton was also in attendance and requested a time frame for this to be completed. Building Commissioner Segraves said there is a realtor sign in front of the properties and he would call them to ask that the exterior be cleaned up. INDOT AGREEMENT Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the agreement between the City of Jeffersonville and Indot for the Pedestrian Walkway in the Ohio River Greenway, seconded by Building Commissioner Segraves and carried unanimously. COMMENTS: Fire Chief Miles Said the Fire DeP~ent Agility Test is scheduled for September 17, 2005. Planning and Zoning Director Hicks said the Parking Study is complete and a summary is available. He said the Comprehensive Plan Task Force is to meet today at 4:00 pm. Administrator Davis requested that servers be located in his office at the new building for quick access. Mayor Waiz said he would be meeting with the Estopinal Group and invited Administrator Davis to attend. Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury asked each department to come up with ideas on how to conserve fuel usage. Parks Director Poff said the Fieldhouse is opening next Tuesday and the pool is closing this weekend. Police Chief Ashabranner asked Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury for a fuel usage printout. Mayor Waiz said he got quotes on Sprint and Verizon. Planning and Zoning Director Hicks and Police Chief Ashabranner said they recommend Verizon. There being no further discussion to come before the Board the motion was made by Engineer Miller to adjourn at 10:00 a.m., seconded by Building Commissioner Segraves and carried unanimously. ST:
