HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-12-2005MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA OCTOBER 12, 2005 Mayor Waiz called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were: Councilperson Sellers and City Engineer Miller, Also present were: Street Commissio/~er Ellis, Fire Chief Miles, Asst. Police Chief Lovan, Wastewater Treatment Director Crawford, Administrator Davis, Councilperson Grooms, Planning and Zoning Director Hicks, Building Commissioner Segraves, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, Parks Director Poff, Personnel Director Calabro, Redevelopment Director Cahill, Councilperson Wilson, City Attorney Merkley and Deputy Clerk Mayfield. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll, seconded by Councilperson Sellers . and carried unanimously. i OLD BUSINESS PROOF OF PROGRESS-TUBBY'S Building Commissioner Segraves asked that this item be removed from the agenda until next week. NEW BUSINESS REQUEST TO NAME STREET- Rick VanGilder came before the Board to request that a street at the Quadrangle around the new city hall be named Jonas Howard Ingram Circle. Mr. Ingram was an Admiral in the Navy and received the Medal of Honor for actions on April 22, 1914 at Vera Cruz, Mexico. Mayor Waiz said he would speak with the developer of the Quadrangle regarding this. Mr. VanGilder said that if approval is given for the street name he would like to place a monument there as well. INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT WITH GREATER CLARK- Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the agreement between the City and Greater Clark . County Schools for police officers in the school system, seconded by Engineer Miller and carded unanimously. COMMENTS: Building Commissioner Segraves said the property at 204 Fairview Avenue needs to be cleanexl up but the owner of the property has passed away. Mayor Waiz requested that the street deparmaent clean up the property and that a lien be placed on the property. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the city cleaning up the property and a lien being placed on it, seconded by Councilperson Sellers and carried unanimously. Vehicle Maintenance Director Dmry said he would be sending fuel bills out to the departments. Administrator Davis said he still needs information from the department heads on their phone needs. Personnel Director Calabro said flu shots are scheduled for October 28, 2005. The city will pay for them. She said the United Way campaign starts today. Planning and Zoning Director Hicks said there will be a Comprehensive planning Task Force meeting today at 4:00 p.m. City Attorney Merkley said the ADA report is due next Monday. He needs all information from department heads on Friday. There being no further discussion to come before the Board the motion was made by Councilperson Sellers to adjourn at 1~0:00 a.m., seconded by City Engineer Miller and carried unanimously.
