HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-28-2005MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA SEPTEMBER 28, 2005 Councilperson Sellers called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were: Building Commissioner Segraves sitting in for City Engineer Miller and Street Commissioner Ellis sitting in for Councilperson Sellers. Also present were: Administrator Davis, Vehicle Maintenance Director Dmry, Street Commissioner Ellis, Assistant Police Chief Lovan, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Assistant Parks Director Couts, Sewer Inspector Lanum, Fire Chief Miles, and Deputy Clerk Lynne Mayfield. Building Commissioner Segraves made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by Street Commissioner Ellis and carded unanimously. Building Commissioner Segraves made the motion to approve the minutes of 9-21-05, seconded by Street Commissioner Ellis and carried unanimously. OLD BUSINESS SIGN REQUEST At the last Mayor's Night Out, a resident requested a three-way stop at Savannah and Downing Drive. Assistant Police Chief Lovan checked the location and recommended the three-way stop. Building Commissioner Segraves made the motion to approve the three-way stop, seconded by Street Commissioner Ellis and carried unanimously. NEW BUSINESS RESIDENT ONLY PARKING Patricia Cawthorn of711 E. Court Avenue requested a resident only parking sign in front of her residence. Assistant Police Chief Lovan will check the location. Building Commissioner Segraves made the motion to approve the sign pending police approval, seconded by Street Commissioner Ellis and carded unanimously. STREET CLOSURE FOR SEWER INSTALL Dave Broady of Southern Indiana Excavating requested that Charlestown Pike be closed on Tuesday, October 4, 2005 for approximately one to two days. Street Commissioner Ellis made the motion to approve the closure, seconded by Building Commissioner Segraves and carded unanimously. DIRECTIONAL SIGN Donna Evans of Advantage Plus Real Estate requested permission to erect a directional sign for Liberty Pointe on Highway 62 and Woodland Court. She said she spoke with Planning and Zoning Director Hick's on the size of the sign. She said the sign would be there for approximately two years. After some discussion Building Commissioner Segraves made the motion to deny the sign, seconded by Street Commissioner Ellis and carded unanimously. RESIDENT ONLY PARKING Theresa Estopinal appeared before the Board to request a resident only parking sign for her grandmother who resides at 309 Graham Street. Assistant Police Chief Lovan will check the location. Building Commissioner Segraves made the motion to approve the resident only sign pending police approval, seconded by Street Commissioner Ellis and carried unanimously. .Al J,ISON LANE TRAFFIC SIGNAL Sewer Inspector Lanum asked the Board to approve Change Order #1 in the amount of $6,055.01. Building Commissioner Segraves made the motion to approve the Change Order for the Allison Lane Traffic Signal, seconded by Street Commissioner Ellis and carried unanimously. 1012 E. 7TH STREET ALLEY REPAIR Sewer Inspector Lanum said the alley needs to be repaved. Street Commissioner Ellis said it could be patched but not repaved due to funds. Street Commissioner Ellis said he would look at the location. COMMENTS: Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury asked the department heads how much money they can contribute to fuel. Assistant Parks Director Couts said Lansden Park will be dedicated on Saturday, October 1, 2005 from 11-3 p.m. Assistant Police Chief Lovan said the police department could contribute $2,500.00 towards fuel. There being no further discussion to come before the Board the motion was made by Building Commissioner Segraves to adjourn at 10:00 a.m., seconded by Street Commissioner Ellis and carded unanimously.
