HomeMy WebLinkAbout08/24/2005MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA AUGUST 24, 2005 Mayor Waiz called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were: Councilperson Sellers and Building Commissioner Segraves sitting in for Engineer Miller. Also present were: Street Commissioner Ellis, Asst. Police Chief Lovan, Vehicle Maintenar~ce Director DraW, Fire Chief Miles. Redevelopment Director Cahili, Coordinator Davis, Personnel Director Calabro. Wastewater Treatment Asst. Meyer, Animal Shelter Director Wilder. Parks Director Poll, Planning and Zoning Director Hicks, Sewer Inspector Lanum, City Attorney Merkley and Deputy Clerk Ma.~eld. Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the pa~oll as presented, seconded by Building Commissioner Segraves and carried unanimously. Building Commissioner Segraves made the motion to approve the minutes of 8-17-05 as presented, seconded by Councilperson Sellers and carded unanimously. FUEL BID Councilperson Sellers said Engineer Miller contacted Petroleum Traders and he was told they could provide the fuel specified. Councilperson Sellers said she thinks the low bidder should prevail. Fire Chief Miles said he thinks Makowsky Oil can better provide for the City. Councilperson Sellers said that in the furore we should not accept a bid from a company that cannot meet our specifications or needs. Chris Makowsky appeared before the Board and stated that Petroleum Traders provided the wrong fuel. After discussion. Conncilperson Sellers made the motion to table until next week to gather additional information- seconded by Building Commissioner Segraves and carried unanimously. PARADE PERMIT Fireman Rick VanGilder asked permission to hold a parade on December 8. 2005 for the military. Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the parade, seconded by Building Commissioner Segraves and carried unanimously. RESIDENT ONLY PARKING Gary Otrich of 1519 Brigman Avenue requested a resident only parking sign. Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the sign. seconded by Building Commissmner Segraves and carried unanimously. ROAD CLOSURE Tom Galligan appeared before the Board to request road closure for one day or less m order to make street cuts on Woodlawn Court. Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the road closure, seconded by Building Commissioner Segraves and carried unanimously. STREET CLOSURE Councilperson Sellers made the motion to close Chestnut Street between Spring and Pearl Streets for a wine tasting event on September 8, 2005 from noon till midnight, seconded by Building Commissioner Segraves and carried unanimously. RESIDENT ONLY PARKING Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve resident only parking at 309 Graham Street for Olaine Disman pending police approval, seconded by Building Commissmner Segraves and carried unanimously. CITATION Building Commissioner Segraves cited William McCulloch who owns property at 2611 and 2615 NAYCharlestown Pike. The property is in violation of Ordinance 150.105 (Exterior Maintenancel. The property has been fined $250.00 per property and as of Augnst 5, 2005 the fine is at $2,000.00. AiSer some discussion, the Board agreed to continue fining Mr. McCulloch $500.00 per month until the properties are cleaned up totally. COMMENTS: Administrator Davis said he is getting Voice Over IP quotes. Parks Director Poff said the outdoor movie for this weekend is Grease at 7:30 pm.
