OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
SEPTEMBER 14, 2005
Mayor Waiz called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were:
Councilperson Sellers and City Engineer Miller.
Also present were: Building Commissioner Segraves, Fire Chief Miles, Asst. Police Chief Lovan,
Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Planning and Zoning Director Hicks, Computer Technician Davis,
Parks Director Poll, Clerk Treasurer Wilder, Redevelopment Director Cahill, City Attorney Merkley
and Deputy Clerk Mayfield.
Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the minutes of 8-24-05, seconded by City
Engineer Miller and carried unanimously.
Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll, seconded by Councilperson Sellers
and carried unanimously.
NEW BUSINESS
WHEELS AND HEELS TRAIL
Planning and Zoning Director Hicks asked the Board to approve the agreement between the
City of Jeffersonville and Butler, Fairman, and Seufert regarding the Wheels and Heels trail.
Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the agreement, seconded by Councilperson
Sellers and carded unanimously.
GREATER CLARK COUNTY SCHOOLS SIGNAGE
Mike Marra Jr. appeared before the Board to request approval to put up signage on Highway
62 and Utica Sellersburg Road letting people know where the Greater Clark Co. Schools
Administration Building is. Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the signage
locations, seconded by Engineer Miller and carded unanimously.
F1XED ASSETS
Tim Wells of T.M. Wells Valuation Services appeared before the Board to explain the
services he offers and his extensive background and qualifications regarding fixed assets. He
has provided fixed asset services for many cities, counties, and towns in Indiana, Michigan,
and Ohio and has developed reports that meet GASB34 requirements. Clerk Treasurer
Wilder explatned the need for Mr. Wells s sermces an said that the State Board of Accounts
holds her accountable and responsible for the proper requirements on fixed assets. She Said
the contract would be funded by EDIT money. The contract is not to exceed $20,000.00.
Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the contract, seconded by Engineer Miller
and carried unanimously.
STREET CLOSURE
Engineer Miller made the motion to approve closing Broadway between 6th and 7th Streets for
a car show on October 2,2005, seconded by Councilperson Sellers and carded unanimously.
KZF DESIGN
Engineer Miller made the motion to approve an agreement between the City of Jeffersonville
and KZF Design regarding the Big Four Bridge Approach, seconded by Councilperson
Sellers and carried unanimously.
RESOLUTION APPROVAL
Attorney Merkley said the Parks Board approved two resolutions regarding the conveyance of
property and the termination of a lease. These resolutions need Board of Public Works
approval also. (Attached) Engineer Miller made the motion to approve Resolution 2005-R-
09-12-1 and Resolution 2005-R-0912-2, seconded by Councilperson Sellers and carded
unanimously.
COMMENTS:
Fire Chief Miles said the City of Jeffersonville needs to have a plan for emergency situations.
Clerk Treasurer Wilder said everyone needs to come together with a plan. She said the Red
Cross training classes are very informative and helpful. Miles said we need to be proactive
instead of reactive.
Animal Shelter Director Wilder said an employee of his will be off for one week and asked if
anyone could help out at the shelter.
Councilperson Wilson said there is a problem on Woodland Court with noise, cars, etc.
Assistant Police Chief said he would look into it. She said a street sign is needed on Fields
Drive.
Parks Director Poff said the last concert in the park is scheduled for this Friday night and the
movie is Rudy. He asked permission to hang a banner downtown for Halloween and
Christmas. Mayor Waiz said this would be fine.
Mayors Night In is scheduled for Tuesday, September 20, 2005 at Mallard Run subdivision at
6:30 pm.
There being no further discussion to come before the Board the motion was made by City Engineer
Miller to adjourn at 10:00 a.m., seconded by Councilperson Sellers and carded unanimously.
