HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-06-2005MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA JULY 6, 2005 Mayor Waiz called the meeting to order at 9'30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were' Building Commissioner Segraves sitting in for Councilperson Sellers and City Engineer Miller. .-. Also present were: Building Commissioner Segraves, Administrator Davis, City Attorney Merkley, Vehicle Maintenance Director Dmry, Street Commissioner Ellis, Police Chief Ashabranner, Redevelopment Director Cahill, Personnel Director Calabro, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Parks Director Poff, Councilperson Barbara Wilson, Planning and Zoning Director Hicks, Fire Chief Miles, and Deputy Clerk Lynne Mayfield. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the minutes of 6-29-05 as presented, seconded by Councilperson Sellers and carried unanimously. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by Councilperson Sellers and carried unanimously. CAR CRUISE Parks Director Poff said a Car Cruise is scheduled for July 15, 2005 on Riverside Drive at 9'00 pm. He would like to close a portion of the street at. 8:30 pm. for this event,.-Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the street closure, seconded by Building Commissioner Segraves and carried unanimously. RIVERFRONT CROSSWALKS Police Chief Ashabranner said Officer Fleeman said there is a.lot of pedestrian traffic in the Riverfront area but there are no crosswalks designated. Mayor Waiz said crosswalks could be set up. COMMENTS' Street Commissioner Ellis reported that he observed a five year old child riding his bike along Tenth Street. He called the police and the child lived in.King's Circle. Animal Shelter Director Wilder said he still needs help with the Golf Scramble scheduled for July 18, 2005. Councilperson Wilson thanked Chief Miles for the use of the fire truck in the parade. C°uncilperson Wilson said handicapped crosswalks are needed at 8th Street and Holly Drive and 8th Street and Lilly Lane. Engineer Miller said he would look at the transitional plan. Parks Director Poff said the spent fireworks at Bob Hedge Park were a job to clean up. Fire Chief Miles said he would speak to the responsible party. Police Chief Ashabranner said his son needs donations for Splash For Cash. Animal Shelter Director Wilder said two handrails are in need of repair at the Riverfront. Mayor Waiz said there is a Special Board meeting scheduled for Friday, July 8, 2005 at 9:30 a.m. at the Quadrangle for the new City Hall. He invited all employees. Mayor Waiz said Friday, July 8, 2005 is Appreciation Night at Slugger Field. There being no further discussion to 'come before the Board the motion was made by Engineer Miller to adjourn at 10:00 a.m., seconded by Building Commissioner Segraves and carded unanimously.
