OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
JUNE 22, 2005
Mayor Waiz called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were'
Councilperson Sellers and City Engineer Miller.
Also present were. Street Commissioner Ellis, Building Commissioner Segraves, Fire Chief Miles,
Police Officer Pavey, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Parks Director Poff, Planning and Zoning
Director Hicks, Wastewater Treatment Director Crawford, Personnel Director Calabro, Redevelopment
Director Cahill, City Attorney Merkley and Deputy Clerk Mayfield.
Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll, seconded by Councilperson Sellers
and carded unanimously.
Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the minutes of 6-15-05, seconded by
Engineer Miller and carded unanimously.
OLD BO$INESS
AUTO DAMAGE JERRY PIKE
Street Commissioner Ellis said he brought the sweeper down to compare to the car and took
pictures. Mr. Ellis said the street sweeper couldn't have done the damage. Mr. Pike did not
appear before the Board.
NEW BUSINESS
SOLICITORS PERMIT
Kelly Osborne, who works for EdWard D. Jones requested a door-to-door solicitors permit. Engineer
Miller made the motion to approve the permit, seconded by CoUncilperson Sellers and carded
unanimously.
JOB DESCRIPTIONS
Mitch Ripley appeared before the Board to discuss job descriptions and the need for them. He said the
job descriptions would assist in disciplinary matters and in doing evaluations. He will meet-with the
department heads to go over the job descriptions and then the department heads will need to go over the
description with each employee and have the employee sign off on it.
FUEL AGREEMENT
City Attorney Merkley said he spoke with fuel provider Petroleum Traders about the
reformed fuel they are providing to the City. Attorney Merkley said our bid speculations
state that no reformed fuel is to be used, as it is not good for our Vehicles. After some
discussion, Engineer Miller made the motion to rebid the fuel, seconded by Councilperson
Sellers and carded unanimously.
APPROVAL OF CONTRACT
Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the contract with Mitch Ripley for job
descriptions, seconded by Engineer Miller and carded unanimously.
COMMENTS'
Engineer Miller'said a porta can is needed at Duffy's Landing for July 4th, 2005.
Building Commissioner Segraves said some employees might not agree with their job
descriptions. Mr. Ripley said the employees would need to read the job description and sign
that they understand it.
Animal Shelter Director Wilder said he could use some help with the Golf Scramble.
Parks Director Poff said on June 24, 2005 at 7:15 pm. the City will receive the Community
Legacy Award. There will be a concert in the park also. Also scheduled for June 25, 2005 is'
Little Rascals at 5'00 pm., Tim Krekel at 6:00 pm., and Matt and Pauly Zarb at 7:30 pm.
Scheduled for June 26, 2005 is The Rumors from 6-8 pm. at the RiverStage.
Personnel Director Calabro said she needs a count for RiverBats tickets.
Councilperson Sellers said there is a detention ditch on Highway 62 that holds a lot of water
for several hours When it rains. She said a guardrail might be needed. Engineer Miller and
Street Commissioner Ellis will look at it.
There being no further discussion to come before the Board the motion was made by City Engineer
Miller to ad'oum at 1 O: 10 a.m., seconded by Councilperson Sellers and carded unanimously.
