HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-29-2005MINUTES OF THE BOARD oF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA JUNE 29, 2005 Engineer Miller sat in for Mayor Waiz and called the meeting to order at 9:35 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were: Councilperson Sellers and Building Commissioner Segraves sitting in for Engineer Miller. Also present were: Street Commissioner Ellis, Police Chief Ashabranner, Vehicle Maintenance Director Dmry, Fire Chief Miles, Redevelopment Director Cahill, Coordinator Davis, Personnel Director Calabro, Wastewater. Treatment Director Crawford, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Parks Director Poff, Planning and Zoning Director Hicks, Youth Director Knight, City Attorney Merkley and Deputy Clerk Mayfield. Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the claims as presented, seconded by Building Commissioner Segraves' and carded unanimously. Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the minutes of 6-22-05 as presented, seconded by Building Commissioner Segraves and carded unanimously. Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by Building Commissioner Segraves and carded unanimoUsly. RED CROSS Engineer Miller made the motion to approve giving the Red Cross the use of three parking spaces on Watt Street on Thursday, June 30, 2005 for their blood drive, seconded by Councilperson Sellers and carded unanimously. RESIDENT ONLY PARKING Pam Foster appeared before the Board to request a resident only parking sign at her residence at 410 Crestview Court. Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the sign pending police approval, seconded by Building Commissioner Segraves and canfed unanimously. COMMENTS' Building Commissioner Segraves said that Cinergy's tree trimmers did not remove the debris from 1102 Sportsman Drive. Engineer Miller said he would look into it. Councilperson Sellers requested that a "No bikes, no skateboards" sign be posted in the Meadows Subdivision near the concrete culvert. Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the sign, seconded by Building Commissioner Segraves and carded unanimously. Fire Chief Miles reminded everyone about fireworks safety. Youth Director Knight reminded everyone about Spirit Over the Water Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. Street Commissioner Ellis said there would be no garbage pickup on Monday. An. Shelter Director Wilder said the golf scramble is in three weeks and teams, sponsors, and donations are needed. Planning and Zoning Director Hicks said a Planning TaSk Force meeting is scheduled for today at 2:00 p.m. in the Mayor's conference room. At 6'00 p.m. tonight there will be a meeting concerning the Parking Study in the Mayor's conference room. Parks Director Poff said the movie "Grease" is scheduled for July 15, 2005 at the Terrace Lawn. A cruise is scheduled for 9'00 p.m. Personnel Director Calabro said she has the Riverbat's tickets. She will deliver them to the department heads. She said she would be on vacation Friday, July 1, 2005 through July 6, 2005. Any insurance questions can be directed to Suzy Bass in the City Clerk Treasurer's office. Police Chief Ashabranner said Officer Glenn Jackson has become a Certified National Canine trainer, Officer Denver Leverett received the Outstanding Service Award for an apprehension, and the police department received a plaque for the canine workshop they put on last year. There being no further discussion to come before the Board the motion was made by Councilperson Sellers to adjourn at 10'10 a.m., seconded by Building Commissioner Segraves and carded unanimously. ~IA '~-R-/ m.
