OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
APRIL 13, 2005
Mayor Waiz called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present
Were: City Engineer Miller and Councilperson Sellers.
Also present were: Vehicle Maintenance Director Dmry, Building Commissioner Segraves,
Administrator Rich Davis, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, City Attorney Merkley, Police Chief
Ashabranner, Planning and Zoning Director Hicks, Parks Director Poff, Personnel Director
Calabro, Youth Director Knight, Street Commissioner Ellis, Fire Chief Miles, and Clerk Lynne
Mayfield.
City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded, by
Councilperson Sellers and carried unanimously.
Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the minutes of 3-30-05 and 4-6-05'as presented,
seconded by Engineer Miller and carded unanimously.
OLD BUSINESS
GRASSCUTT1NG CONTRACT-RIVERFRONT
Engineer Miller made the motion to award the contract to Greg's Lawn Service, seconded by
Councilperson Seller's and carded unanimously.
SPECIAL EVENT BANNER POLES
Engineer Miller said he has some galvanized poles that can be used but he doesn't think they will
be aesthetically pleasing. They will need to be painted and cut off. Councilperson Sellers made
the motion to approve the poles, seconded by Engineer Miller and carded unanimously.
NEW BUSINESS
CITY HALL BID OPENING-sheet attached
Bids were received from E.H. Construction, Lloyd Bilyeu Construction Co., Parco Construction
Inc., Upton Pry Inc., and Woodbine Construction. Engineer Miller made the motion to take the
bids under advisement, seconded by Councilperson Sellers and carded unanimously.
PEDDLER PERMIT
Steven Ellis with Wesley United Methodist Church asked permission to sell water during Thunder
Over Louisville for a fundraiser to send forty kids to Disney World. Engineer Miller made the
motion to approve the request, seconded by Councilperson Sellers and carried unanimously. The
fee was waived.
HAVEN HOUSE HOMEWARD BOUND WALK
Youth Director Knight said the walk would be held on April 17, 2005 starting at Warder Park.
Registration and activities begin at noon. The walk will begin at 2:00 pm. The Haven House will
have twenty volunteers for the course. Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the
walk, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously.
TRAINING CENTER CONTRACT
Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the sub-lease contract between River Ridge
Development AUthority, the Charlestown Police Department, and the City of Jeffersonville Police
Department, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously.
FINANCING FOR GARBAGE TRUCK.S..
Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the lease agreement with Chase Equipment
Leasing Inc. for two garbage trucks in the amount of $237,040.00, seconded by Engineer Miller
and CalTied unanimously. It is a five-year lease.
READY ELECTRIC
A representative from Ready Electric asked permission to block a portion of Watt Street fbr a
couple of hours on Thursday, April 14, 2005 to set a generator. Engineer Miller made the motion
to approve the closure, seconded by Councilperson Sellers and carried unanimously.
COMMENTS:
Street Commissioner Ellis asked if Watt Street from Market Street to Riverside
Drive can be opened up for Thunder OVer Louisville. Mayor Waiz will check on this.
Street Commissioner Ellis said residents are putting liquids in their cans. He would like something
published in the paper. Mayor Waiz said that is ok.
Animal Shelter Director Wilder said he is
sponsors and volunteers.
finalizing plans for the golf scramble.

Fire Chief Miles said he needs to have someone to call for fuel removal in emergency situations
after hours. Mayor Waiz will look into this.
Chief Miles said a charity basketball game would be held Thursday night at 6'45 p.m. at River
Valley School.
Personnel Director Calabro needs canned goods by the end of the week for Dare To Care.
Police Chief Ashabranner said there was an armed robbery this morning at the Thomton's on
Highway 62.
Police Chief Ashabranner said that Kevin Morlan' is the recipient of the 2004 Officer of the 'gear
award.
Police Chief Ashabranner said a bus has been acquired for the Command Center.
Parks Director Poff asked about other methods of payment for citizens such as credit cards.
Treasurer Wilder is checking on this.

Engineer Miller said he has looked at literature on street sweepers.
