OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
MAY 18, 2005
In Mayor Waiz's absence, Engineer Miller called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll
those members present were: Councilperson Sellers and Building Inspector Hardin sitting in for City
Engineer Miller.
Also present were: City Attorney Merkley, Computer Technician Davis, Vehicle Maintenance Director
Drury, Street Commissioner Ellis, Police Chief Ashabranner, Redevelopment Director Cahill,
Wastewater Treatment Director Crawford, Personnel Director Calabro, Animal Shelter Director Wilder,
Parks Director Poff, Planning and Zoning Director Hicks, Fire Chief Miles, and Deputy Clerk Mayfield.
Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the minutes of 4-27-05 and 5-11-05 as
presented, seconded by Building Inspector Hardin and carded bnanimously.

by Engineer Miller and carded unanimously.
WALK-A-THON
Elroy Vennie appeared to request permission to hold the annual Temple of Christ Community Church
Walk-A-Thon on June 11, 2005. Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the Walk.-A-Thon,
seconded by Building Inspector Hardin and carded unanimously.
13TM ANNUAL 5K RUN FOR CRUSADE FOR CHILDREN
Marian Glass and Kathy Backherms appeared before the Board to request road closures on June 4, 2005
for the 5k Run for the Crusade for Children. The mn will go from Market Street to Pearl Street to
Riverside Drive. It will begin at 8 a.m. Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the street
closures, seconded by Building Inspector Hardin and carded unanimously.
TIRE REPLACEMENT CLAIM
Deborah Campbell appeared before the Board on behalf of her husband who on April 7, 2005 hit an
uncovered manhole on Plank Road and Main Street resulting in two busted tires. A police report was
filed. City Attorney Merkley said he would contact Mamco on this and get back with her.
COMMENTS'
Fire Chief Miles said roadblocks are scheduled for May 20, 27, and June 1, 2005 for collection for the
Crusade for Children. Councilperson sellers made the motion to approve the roadblocks, seconded by
Building Inspector Hardin and carded unanimously.
Street Commissioner Ellis said dust and debris from Liter's Quarry is still a problem. He said there are
no tarps on the trucks to contain the dust and debris. Police Chief Ashabranner said they have been cited
in the past for this. Engineer Miller suggested citing John Hamm to the Board of Public Works to
discuss this problem. Councilperson Sellers made the motion to videotape the trucks for two weeks and
then cite Mr. Hamm to the Board of Public Works, seconded by Building Inspector Hardin and carded
unanimously.
Vehicle Maintenance Director Dmry said he is going to need more money budgeted for next year.
Computer Technician Davis told everyone just to delete the German e-mails for the time being.
Animal Shelter Director Wilder said any help with the Golf Scramble is appreciated.
Councilperson Barbara Wilson said she has the schedule for the concerts in the park. She said the
stumps on Perrin Lane need to be taken out. Engineer Miller said he and Street Commissioner Ellis
have it covered. They will have to be ground up.
Personnel Director Calabro asked that United Way survey be filled out and she needs responses from
department heads on job titles.
There being no further discussion to come before the Board the motion was made by Councilperson
