OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA

Mayor Waiz called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present
Were: City Engineer Miller and Councilperson Sellers.
Present: Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, Planning and Zoning Director Padgett, Building
Commissioner Segraves, Administrator DaVis, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Asst. Police Chief
Lovan, City Attorney Merkley, Personnel Director Calabro, Fire Chief Miles, and Clerk Mayfield.
Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the minutes of 7-14-04, seconded by City Engineer
Miller and carried unanimously.
Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by Councilperson
Sellers and carried unanimously.
RESIDENT PARKING
Attorney Jeffery Branstetter appeared before the Board on behalf of Richard Meynard who owns the
rental property at 807 and 809 E. Maple Street. Mr. Meynard wants two resident only parking spaces in
front of the rental property. After some discussion, Engineer' Miller made the motion to deny the request
for Resident Only parking at that address, seconded by Councilperson Sellers and carried unanimously.
Attorney Branstetter asked about the possibility of acquiring one resident only parking space. Engineer
Miller said he would go check the location and report back.
VENDOR PERMIT
Keith Elliott came before the Board to ask permission to sell hats, shirts, purses, etc door to door. He
also inquired about setting up a booth at special events. Mayor Waiz said he would need to get
permission from the Board for each special event at $75.00 per event. After discussion, Councilperson
Sellers made the motion to approve Mr. Elliott selling door to door for six months between noon and
6:30 p.m., seconded by Mayor Waiz. The permit is $25.00.
EMPLOYEE HANDBOOK
City Attorney Merkley, Mayor Waiz, and DePuty Clerk Bass met with Mitchell Ripley of HR 'Unlimited
Resources on re-writing the City of Jeffersonville Employee Handbook. Mr. Ripley will work with
PerSonnel Director Calabro and all the Department heads. The contract is in the amount of $3,500.00
and is to be completed by November 1, 2004. Councilperson Sellers asked where the $3,500.00 would
be paid from. Mayor Waiz said it would be split up from all departments' budgets. All emploYees will
be required to read the handbook and sign saying they have read it. Councilperson Sellers made the
motion to approve the contract to re-write the employee handbook for $3,500.00, seconded by Engineer
Miller and carried unanimously.
COMMENTS'
Administrator Davis asked to order a computer. Mayor Waiz gave him the ok.
Planning and Zoning
get an estimated cost.
Director Padgett asked if there is money for signage. Mayor Waiz asked him to

information on Recreational Vehicles in trailer parks.
Engineer Miller asked Fire Chief Miles if an inspection has been done at the Fireworks store ,on Allison
Lane across from the high school. Fire Chief Miles said he would check.
