HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-30-2005MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA MARCH 30, 2005 Mayor Waiz called the meeting to order at 9'30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were' Councilperson Sellers and Building Commissioner Russ Seagraves, who was sworn in to take the place of absent member Engineer Bob Miller. Also present were: Fire Chief Miles, Police Chief Ashabranner, Parks Director Poff, Vehicle Maintenance Director Dmry, Street Department Representative Louis Galligan, City Engineer Lanham, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Information Technician Davis, Personnel Director Calabro, Redevelopment Director Cahill, City Attorney Merkley and Chief Deputy Clerk Bass. Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the payroll, seconded by Commissioner Seagraves and carded unanimously. Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the claims as presented, seconded by Commissioner Seagraves and carded unanimously. WOODLAWN AVE IMPROVEMENT Tom Schellenberg, Jacobi, Tombs, and Lanz, appeared before the Board with the design specifications to submit to the state on the improvement of the intersection of Woodlawn Ave and'Hamburg Pike. The motion was made by Councilperson Sellers to approve the request to submit the design to the state, seconded by Commissioner Seagraves and carded unanimoUsly. RESIDENT PARKING ONLY SIGN Russ Seagraves told the Board that there is a Resident Only Sign in front of 309 Pearl St. This house is vacant and he would like to remove this sign. There has been no fee Paid for the sign this year. The motion was made by C°uncilperson Sellers to remove the sign, seconded by Commissioner Seagraves and carried unanimously· TRAFFIC SIGNAL Mayor Waiz asked for the Boards approval to execute the agreement with Jacobi, Tombs and Lanz for the installation of the traffic signal at Allison Lane and Seminole Drive. The motion was made by Councilperson Sellers to approve the agreement, seconded by Commissioner Seagraves and carried unanimously. MANHOI~E ACCIDENT Ms. Leshondra Hazzard appeared before the Board concerning injuries she received when she fell into a covered manhole at Chestnut St and Pearl. Engineer Lanham said that if the hole was close to the grass then it might be a water meter cover. He will have someone look at it immediately. The accident occurred on March 7, 2005. The Mayor asked Ms. Hazzard to accompany Engineer Lanham to the location so they will know what she is referring to and then the City will proceed after that. Assistant Galligan asked if Wall St could be opened back up at Market St since no work is being done at this time. The Mayor agreed to open it. Superintendent Poff thanked the Engineer Department for their help on Ewing Lane. He also asked if they could borrow the backhoe for work at Vissing Park. Director Calabro reminded the Department Heads to pick up their Dare To Care boxes in her office.
