HomeMy WebLinkAbout01-12-2005MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA JANUARY 12, 2005 Mayor Waiz called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were: Councilperson Sellers and City Engineer Miller. Also present were: Building Commissioner Segraves, Fire Chief Miles, Police Chief Ashabranner, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Parks Director Poff, Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, Street Department Director Ellis, Wastewater Treatment Director Crawford, Personnel Director Calabro, Redevelopment Director Cahill, City Attorney Merkley and Deputy Clerk Mayfield. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the claims, seconded by Councilperson Sellers and carried unanimously. CITATION Building Commissioner Segraves said a citation was sent to Geraldine Moss because of the poor condition of her property at 803 Foxglove Drive. Geraldine Moss appeared before the Board and said she is in the process of selling the property. The person who is buying the house intends to tear it down and rebuild. Engineer Miller made the motion to give Ms. Moss three weeks to sell and close on the property or the City will demolish the house, seconded by Councilperson Sellers and carried unanimously. RESIDENT OlqLY PARKING Mike Hynes of 925 E. Maple Street appeared before the Board to request a resident only parking sign. Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the resident only sign pending police approval, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. PARKING LOT STUDY Mayor Waiz said the City has received a $30,000.00 grant to do a parking study. He said people are needed from different departments and the council to be a part of the study. A guideline information sheet was passed out to the department heads. Mayor Waiz asked everyone to review it and give Planning and Zoning Director Hicks a call. Comme~s: Chief Miles asked if there would be any FEMA money for the previous snowstorm. Mayor Waiz said a call was made to Harold Plummer and we are included in the state of emergency. George Trembly will manage any overtime that was put in because of the storm. Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury asked Police Chief Ashabranner if he has ordered any cars yet. Chief Ashabrarmer said he is getting the paperwork together. Animal Shelter Director Wilder asked Attorney Merkley the status of the new inter-local agreement for the animal shelter. Attorney Merkley said work should start on it by the end of the month. Nellie Knowland thanked Mayor Waiz for the framed picture.
