HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-20-2004MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA OCTOBER 20, 2004 Mayor Waiz called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were: Councilperson Sellers and City Engineer Miller. Also present were: Building Commissioner Segraves, Administrator Davis, Fire Chief Miles, Police Chief Ashabranner, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Parks Asst. Director Couts, Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, Street Department Director Ellis, Wastewater Treatment Director Crawford, Planning and Zoning Director Padgett, Redevelopment Director Cahill, City Attorney Merkley and Deputy Clerk Mayfield. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll, seconded by Cotmcilperson Sellers and carded unanimously. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the minutes of Oct°ber 13, 2004, seconded by Councilperson Sellers and carried unanimously. SECRETARY REPLACEMENT Building Commissioner Segraves requested the Board's approval to fill the Secretarial position in his office. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve filling the secretarial position, seconded by Councilperson Sellers and carded unanimously. 1NTERLOCAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE AND THE GREATER CLARK COUNTY SCHOOL CORP. Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the agreement between the City of Jeffersonville and the Greater Clark County School Corporation for a police officer at Parkview and River Valley Middle Schools, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. The school corporation will pay 75% and the City will pay 25%. INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE AND THE GREATER CLARK COUNTY SCHOOL CORPORATION Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the agreement between the City of Jeffersonville and the Greater Clark County School Corporation to construct a parking lot at the comer of Franklin and Meigs Avenue for police vehicle parking, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. SUB-LEASE Engineer Miller made the motion to approve a four-year sub-lease between the City of Jeffersonville and the County for rental space, seconded by Councilperson Sellers and carried unanimously. REQUEST FOR VACATION OF PROPERTY Engineer Miller said Carmen Industries contacted him because they would like for the City to vacate some property for them to use for parking. Attorney Merkley said this would need to be approved by the City Council. Engineer Miller made the motion to deny the vacation, seconded by Councilperson Sellers and carded unanimously. COMMENTS: Mayor Waiz reminded everyone of the OSHA meeting on November 3, 2004. Building Commissioner Segraves inquired about the status of the ID cards. Police Chief Ashabrauner said the machine is ready and to contact Kevin Morlan. Parks Assistant Couts reminded everyone of Halloween Downtown from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, October 25, 2004. Vehicle Maintenance DireCtor Dmry said Gov.com is up and running if anyone has anything to advertise. Parks Asst. Director Couts asked Engineer Miller if Dan Braun could be used at Warder P~rk. Engineer Miller said yes. There being no further discussion to come before the Board the motion was made by City Engineer Miller to adjourn at 10:00 a.m., seconded by Councilperson Sellers and carded unanimously.
