HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-15-2004MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA SEPTEMBER 15, 2004 Mayor Waiz called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were: Councilperson Sellers and Building Commissioner Segraves sitting in for City Engineer Miller. Also present were: Building Commissioner Segraves, Coordinator Davis, Street Department Employee Trembly, Police Chief Ashabranner, Personnel Director Calabro, Fire Chief Miles, Redevelopment Director Cahill, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Sewer Inspector Lanum, Youth Director Knight, Parks Director Poll, City Attorney Merkley and Deputy Clerk Mayfield. Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by Building Commissioner Segraves, and carried unanimously. Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the minutes of September 8, 2004 as presented, seconded by Building Commissioner Se.graves and carried unanimously. RESIDENT ONLY PARKING-819 WATT STREET Rob Brown appeared before the Board to request a resident only parking sign. Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the resident only parking sign pending police approval, seconded by Building Commissioner Segraves and carried unanimously. STREET CLOSURE Youth Director Knight asked the Board to approve street closures in September and October. (schedule attached) Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the street closures, seconded by Building Commissioner Segraves and carried unanimously. SPECIAL MEETiNG City Attorney Merkley told the Board that the Special Board Meeting on September 16, 2004 has been cancelled. City Attorney Merkley said a Special Board Meeting is scheduled for September 23, 2004 regarding a disciplinary, matter. 2005 HOLIDAY SCHEDULE Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the 2005 Holiday schedule, seconded by Building Commissioner Segraves and carried unanimously. COMMENTS: Fire Chief Miles said Agility Testing is scheduled for Saturday, September 18, 2004 at 8:30 a.m. at the Corydon Porter Center. Parks Director Poff said there would be a free lunch at Warder Park Thursday, September 16, 2004 from 11:30 to 1:30 pm. The last concert in the park and outdoor movie is on Friday, September 17, 2004. George Trembly, sitting in for Street Commissioner Ellis said they have three disabled packer trucks. Personnel Director Calabro reminded everyone of the Sexual Harassment class next Wednesday. All department heads must attend. Police Chief Ashabranner said the Police and Fire Departments plan to do cross training. Police Chief Ashabranner said an informational class is to be held on meth labs. Police Chief Ashabranner said the child molester has been caught. City Attorney Merkley asked all department heads to e-mail their ADA progress thus far. Attorney Merkley said he is required to file an annual report. Councilperson Sellers said Trevillian Court needs to be scraped and repaved. George Trembly said it would be taken care of.
