HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-22-2004MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA SEPTEMBER 22, 2004 Mayor Waiz called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were: Councilperson Sellers and City Engineer Miller. Also present were: Building Commissioner Segraves, Administrator Davis, Fire Chief Miles, Youth Director Knight, Police Chief Ashabrauner, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Parks Director Poff, Wastewater Treatment Director Crawford, Planning and Zoning Director Padgett, City Attorney Merkley and Deputy Clerk Mayfield. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll, seconded by Councilperson Sellers and can/ed unanimously. COMMON GROUNDS Ruth Browning appeared before the Board to request having a festival on Saturday, October 23, 2004. It will be held next to the Common Grounds Coffee Shop in honor of Police, Fire, and EMT. She would like the street be closed from 10 am to 8 pm between 8th and 10th Streets on Penn Street. She will notify residents in the area. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the festival and the street closing on October 23, 2004, seconded by Councilperson Sellers and carried unanimously. In case of rain it will be held on October 30, 2004. NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS Frank Killebrew of 306 Mary Street asked that police patrol his street. He also said he has some drainage problems. Mayor Waiz said he will have someone look at the ditches and Police Chief Ashabranner will step up patrols on that street. LOUISVILLE AIDS WALK Dell Courtney of the Louisville Aids Walk Foundation requested a street closure on Sunday, September 26, 2004 from 8 am. to 10 am. for the 5K Run and lpm to 6 pm for the Walk. Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve closing 31 South at the 1-65 split, Missouri Avenue, West Court Avenue just West of the 1-65 South ramp, and W. Market Street at Missouri Avenue, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. PEARL STREET CLOSURE Engineer Miller said Flood Control would be setting a floodgate on October 5, 2004 at 8 am. He asked that someone from each department attend. Engineer Miller made the motion to close Pearl Street, seconded by Councilperson Sellers and carded unanimously. CONTRACT WITH GOVDEALS City Attomey Merkley said he has looked over the contract with GovDeals, which advertises to sell surplus equipment on the Intemet. It's a one-year agreement and their fee is based on what is brought on an item. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the contract, seconded by Councilperson Sellers and carried unanimously. FALLS CITY MUSTANG CLUB Engineer Miller made the motion to close part of Riverside Drive for a Car Show on October 16, 2004, seconded by Councilperson Sellers and carried unanimously. REM1NDER Mayor Waiz reminded everyone of dance practice Thursday evening at 8:30 pm. for the event in October. There being no further discussion to come before the Board the motion was made by City Engineer Miller to adjourn 3t 10:00 a.m., seconded by Councilperson Sellers and carded unanimously.
