OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
AUGUST 4, 2004
Mayor Rob Waiz called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M., and on call of the
roll, those present were City Engineer Bob Miller and Councilperson Connie
Sellers.
Present were: Planning and Zoning Director Chris Padgett, Vehicle
Maintenance Director Mike Dmry, Police Chief Rick Ashabranner,
Personnel Director Klm Calabro, Building Commissioner Russ Seagraves,
Fire Chief Clark Miles, Park Superintendent Rob Poff, Redevelopment
Director Barry Cahill, Animal Shelter Director Harry Wilder, Street
Department Director Ron Ellis, City Attorney Les Merkley, and Deputy
Clerk Lynne Mayfield.
City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll as presented,
seconded by Councilperson Sellers, passing unanimously.
Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the minutes of 7-28-04,
seconded by Engineer Miller and carded unanimously.
HANDICAPPED PARKING
Police Chief Ashabrarmer recommended a resident only parking sign at 423
E. Chestnut Street.
BID OPENING ON REFUSE PACKER
Engineer Miller opened the bids for a 25 yard Refuse packer.

Engineer Miller wade the motion to take the bids under advisement for one
week, seconded by Councilperson Sellers and carried unanimously.
1502 NINA ROAD
Building Commissioner Segraves asked direction from the Board regarding
1502 Nina Road. The Board had previously (Feb.) moved to fine $250.00
per month for clean up violation. Engineer Miller made the motion to
approve Building Commissioner Segraves citing the owner of the property
under the new ordinance, seconded by Councilperson Sellers and carried
unanimously.
COMMENTS
Fire Chief Miles asked Police Chief Ashabranner when the new ID cards
would be ready. Chief Ashabranner said he can come down anytime for
them.
Street Commissioner Ellis said he has received some calls from businesses
requesting garbage pickup. Attorney Merkley said the City Council needs to
address this in the form of an ordinance.
Street Commissioner Ellis said he has some concerns about the leaf
ordinance.
Parks Director Poff said Phase One of the ball field is almost finished and
will be seeded by fall.
Persormel Director Calabro has copies of the dental coverage for all
employees.
Personnel Director Calabro has arranged for PERF to do a presentation on
August 19, 2004 at 1:00 pm. in the Mayor's conference room. Notices will
be put in with the payroll checks.
Personnel Director Calabro said Sam's Club membership applications will
also be put in with the payroll checks.
Personnel Director Calabro said there is a Safety Meeting today at 2:00 pm.
in the Mayor's conference room.
Personnel Director Calabro said she is meeting with a Property and Casualty
company on Thursday, August 5, 2004.
Attorney Merkley said he will sending out a memo to all departments
regarding ADA compliance.
Police Chief Ashabranner said he has received some complaints about the
turning lane on Holman's Lane in front of Armstrong Farms. Engineer
Miller will go out and look at it.
Engineer Miller said someone requested "No Parking" signs on the left hand
side of the street at Kehoe Lane and Jonquil Drive. Police Chief
Ashabranner said he will mn a police check there.
Mayor Waiz received a letter grom Hal Kovert regarding Homer Novelty.
AML Contractors would like to put their construction trailer on the Chestnut
Street parking lot. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve allowing
AML Contractors to put their trailer on the Chestnut Street parking lot,
seconded by Councilperson Sellers and carried unanimously. City Engineer
Miller said raw materials need to be put on pallets.
