RESOLUTION APPROVING PART Ill-STRATEGIC PLAN OF THE
URBAN ENTERPRISE ZONE APPLICATION TO THE
INDIANA DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville, Indiana (the "Council"
recognizes the need to stimulate local community and business redevelopment in
distressed urban areas in Jeffersonville; and
WHEREAS, the Indiana General Assembly in 1983 passed legislation which provide
for the creation of U'rban enterprise zones to improve the quality of life within the
designated zone area; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jeffersonville, Indiana has conducted a public hearing on
September 27, 1999, in preparation for the submission of an application to the Indian~
Department of Commerce, to explain the zone application, to seek input and to asses,~
the community revitalization, public facilities and economic needs of its Iow and
moderate income zone residents; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jeffersonville, Department of Redevelopment has prepared the
three-year strategic plan for the Jeffersonville Urban Enterprise Association. The
purpose of this plan is to outline the goals and the management of the zone
association; and
WHEREAS, the Council has reviewed the three-year strategic plan;
NOW, THEREFORE IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the Council approves the three-
year strategic plan and authorizes its attachment as part I11 (3) of the zone
application
