OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
FEBRUARY 18, 2004
Mayor Waiz called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were:
Councilperson Sellers and City Engineer Miller.
Also present were: Wastewater Treatment Director Crawford, Building Commissioner Seagraves,
Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, Street Commissioner Ellis, Police Chief Ashabranner, Persormel
Director Calabro, Fire Chief Miles, Planning and Zoning Director Padgett, Redevelopment Director
Becker, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Parks Director Poll, City Attorney Merkley and Deputy Clerk
Lynne Mayfield.
Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by
Councilperson Sellers and carried unanimously.
RESIDENT ONLY PARKiNG
Lynn Whitson of 301 Pearl Street appeared before the Board in regard to her resident only parking sign.
She said other people are parking in that spot. Police Chief Ashabranner said he thinks the placement of
the sign is wrong. After some discussion, Engineer Miller made the motion to approve an additional
resident only parking sign for $100.00, seconded by Councilperson Sellers and carried unanimously.
JOHN KENYON EYE CENTER
Jennifer Fahling spoke to the Board about services they provide and discounts available to the City.
Mayor Waiz asked about the eye lens implant procedure. Ms. Fahling said there is no discount on it.
City Attorney Merkley recommended that we keep the current contract without the Pre-Lux. Ms.
Fahling said she would have the contract ready for approval next week.
FIXED ASSET LIST
City Attorney Merkley said that Lincoln Crum has completed the Fixed Asset list. Engineer Miller
made the motion to approve the Fixed Asset list, seconded by Councilperson Sellers and carried
unanimously. The department heads are to look over the lists.
('"" ' NEXTEL AGREEMENT
Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the contract with Nextel, seconded by Councilperson
Sellers and carried unanimously.
WALK-A-THON
Kelly Bm'bour of Temple of Christ Ministries asked approval to hold a "Walk-A-Thon" on March 20,
2004. It will be a 5-mile walk to start at 11:00 a.m. Police Chief Ashabranner will check out the route
and report back next week. The street department will be responsible for setting up the barricades.

Engineer Miller made the motion to take the bids under advisement, seconded by Councilperson Sellers
and carried unanimously.
DEPARTMENT HEAD REPORTS:
Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury gave the Department Heads a list of their licensed vehicles to look
over and change if need be. He needs the lists back by Friday.
Personnel Director Calabro said she has met with Employee Care and Business Health Plus, which are
occupational health care facilities that are vying for our business. She is to visit with both today.
Wastewater Treatment Director Tim Crawford inquired about the storage situation at the Wastewater
Treatment Plant. City Attorney Merkley said he is trying to set up an appointment with the involved
parties.
Police Chief Ashabranner talked about insuring that in domestic dispute situations that the Police
Department responds before the Fire Department is called in.
Police Chief Ashabrarmer reported that the automated phone system is in and running.
There being no further discussion to come before the Board the motion was made by Engineer Miller to
adjoum at 10:3 0 a.m., seconded by Councilperson Sellers and carried unanimously.
