HomeMy WebLinkAbout01-28-2004MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA JANUARY 28, 2004 Mayor Waiz called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present Were: City Engineer Miller and Councilperson Sellers. Present: Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, Planning and Zoning Director Padgett Building Commissioner Seagraves, Wastewater Treatment Director Crawford, Administrator Davis, Asst. Parks Director Couts, Redevelopment Director Becker, Youth Commissioner Knight, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Parks Director Poff, Police Chief Ashabranner, Assistant Police Chief Lovan, City Attorney Merkley, Street Commissioner Ellis, Personnel Director Calabro, Fire Chief Miles, and Clerk Lyrme Mayfield. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the minutes of 1-14-04, amd 1-21-04, seconded by Councilperson Sellers and carried unanimously. DARE TO CARE Virginia Hodge and her daughter Shannon appeared before the Board in regard to the Dare To Care Food Bank. They asked for the city's participation in collecting food and money. Mayor Waiz said the city would be happy to participate in the food drive. Ms. Hodge said boxes could be provided. VENDOR PERMIT Jerry' Fain of 2020 Gutford Road in Clarksville said he wants to sell barbeque from a mobile unit he owns. He would like to set up on the right of way on the Northeastern comer of Port Road. Engineer Miller said Port Road is owned by the State and the Port Commission would need to be notified. Mayor Waiz said he would give Mr. Fain some phone numbers for contacts. POTHOLE DAMAGE Ella Kavanaugh of 11718 Robin Dale Road appeared before the Board and said she hit a pothole at Exit- 0 and damaged her car rims. She said she contacted her insurance company. Mayor Waiz said he would get her 1NDOT'S phone number to contact since it occurred at Exit-0. DEPART HEAD MEETING Street Commissioner Ellis said he's had some complaints about the ice not being removed fast enough from the streets. He said ice isn't as easily moved as snow but he did his best. Insurance update-Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury said Clark General wants to update the insurance again. Director Drury handed out equipment lists to the Department Heads to be checked and updated. He asked that after reviewing a copy is given to the Mayor for his file. Personnel Director Calabro said she would get various updated forms to all Department Heads. She said the claims adjusters are meeting with her on 2-26-04. Personnel Director Calabro passed out Dare To Care information. Animal Shelter Director Wilder thanked Councilperson Sellers for stopping by his office. Police Chief Ashabrarmer said he should be getting the automated phone system in place in the next week. EMC Director Crawford said Lincoln Crum stopped by his office to do a fixed asset inventory. EMC Director Crawford said that River City Towing has brought cars in for two years now on his lot. He said there are 30-35 vehicles there. Mayor Waiz will look into it. City Attorney Merkley said Fireman Don Growe asked when the building they leased at 11 th and Mechanic will be emptied so the Fire Dept. can put their things in there. Mayor Waiz said he would like a copy of the lease.
