RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING SUBMITTAL OF THE
URBAN ENTERPRISE ZONE APPLICATION TO THE
INDIANA DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE AND ADDRESSING RELATED MATTERS
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville, Indiana (the "Council")
recognizes the need to stimulate local community and business redevelopment in
distressed urban areas in Jeffersonville; and
WHEREAS, the Indiana General Assembly in 1983 passed legislation which provided
for the creation of urban enterprise zones to improve the quality of life within the
designated zone area; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jeffersonville, Indiana has conducted or will conduct public
hearings prior to the submission of an application to the Indiana Department of
Commerce, to explain the zone application, to seek input and to assess the community
revitalization, public facilities and economic needs of its Iow and moderate income zone
residents;
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that The Mayor is authorized to
prepare, execute and submit to the Indiana Department of Commerce an
application for the establishment of the Jeffersonville Urban Enterprise Zone,
pursuant to I.C. 4-4-6.1-3 and regulations pertaining to the Indiana Urban
Enterprise Zone Board, including requisite general administration and project
management, contracts and agreements; and
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor is
authorized to execute any further documents necessary to consummate the
establishment of the Jeffersonville Urban Enterprise Zone.
