HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-22-2003MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA DECEMBER 22, 2003 Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:27 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present Were: City Engineer Miller and Parks Director Elliott. Present were: Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, Parks Director Rick Elliott. Redevelopment Director Robinson. EMC Manager Meyer, and Clerk Lynne Mayfield. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the minutes of 12-15-0o a presented, seconded by Parks Director Elliott and carried unanimously. BONENBERGER STORM SEWERS AND STREETS. John Toombs opened bids on the Bonenberger Storm Sewers and Streets.' The bidders are as follows: American Contracting $1,445,963.52 Mac Construction $1.477980.71 Gohmann Asphalt $1,783,258.86 Pace Contracting $1~814,000.00 American Contractin~ appears to be the low bidder but the bids will be looked over and the bid awarded on January 6, 2004 by the Drainage Board. 3_00 SPRING STREET Joe Lee and Dennis Julius appeared before the Board in regard to starting renovations to the basement at 300 Spring Street. They plan to begin January 1, 2004. It will take approximately two to three weeks. After some discussion about blocking the Street Engineer Miller made the motion to approve closing the westbound lane on Chestnut Street and eastside parking with traffic being relocated- seconded by Parks Director Elliott and carried unanimously. DR. UEDING _CONTRACT_ Parks Director Elliott made the motion to approve Dr. Ueding's Vision Contract with the City of Jeffersonville for another year. seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. STREET C._LOSiNG Mark VanOilder appeared before the Board to request that half of 7~' Street be closed between Meigs Avenue and Watt Street for a constrnction trailer. Work is to begin at the first of the year. Mayor · · . e marked very, very well. THANK Y_OL~ Engineer Miller thanked Drainage Board members Tom Lowe and Charlie White for being present and for a job well done on the Drainage Board. There being no further business to come before the Board of Public Works and Safety, City Engineer Miller made the motion to adjourn at 9:50 a.m.. seconded by Parks Director Elliou and carried unanimously.
