HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-08-2003MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA DECEMBER 8. 2003 Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present Were: City Engineer Miller and Parks Director Elliott. Also present were: Wastewater Treatment Manager Meyer, Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, Building Commissioner Gavin. Administrator Rich Davis, Animal Shelter Director Wilder. City Attorney Galligan. Redevelopment Director Robinson. Police Chief Pavey, Planning and Zoning Director Padgett, and Clerk Lynne Mayfield. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by Parks Director Elliott and carried unanimously. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the minutes of 10-20-03.10-27-03, 11-17-03. and 11- 24-03 as presented, seconded by Parks Director Elliott and carried unanimously. PAUL LEE HOUSE John McCoy with Bob Isgrigg and Associates came before the Board to get approval to move the Paul Lee house from Charlestown-New Albany Pike to Scott Drive in Waverly Park subdivision. Mayor Galligan said the best day for a move of this nature is on Sunday. He told Mr. McCoy to contact CINergy and then corfie back to the Board with an exact date for the move and to have a rain date planned. DRAiNAGE PROBLEM AT 404 WILLIAMS STREET Engineer Miller said Mike Lanham has spoken with Jeannie Palmiter of 404 Williams Street and explained the plans to her on this problem. SNYDER DRIVE STORMWATER SEWER Engineer Miller said because of an emergency situation that bids were taken from three companies. (Bid Sheet attached~ the low bidder was Cornell Harbison at $54.965.00. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve Cornell Harbison's bid of $54.965.00, seconded by Parks Director Elliott and carried unanimously. 2004 HOLIDAY SCHEDULE Engineer Miller made the morion to approve the 2004 Holiday schedule, seconded by Parks Director Etliott and carried unanimously. QUIT CLAIM DEED/RESOLUTION Parks Director Elliotr made the motion to qmtclaim deed .77 acres, and part of block 115 from the City of Jeffersonville to the Department of Redevelopment. seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. City Attorney Galligan joined the Board meetin~ and stated that a Resolution needs to be done on this. Parks Director Elliott made the motion to amend the morion to include BPW Resolution 2003-17 for Conrail to Abandon the Right of Way and gift to the City of Jeffersonville who will quit claim deed the property to the Department of Redevelopment. seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. GRIEVANCE Private William E. Hedrick of Crew B filed a grievance in regard to seniority. Private Growe stated that Bruce DeArk. William E. Hedrick. and John Chris Kinnaird were hired on the same date. According to contract, when more than one person is hired on the same date seniority goes according to alphabetical order. Fire Chief Smith had John Chris Kinnaird as having seniority over William E Hedrick. Private Growe said Fire Chief Smith said he wouldn't change it unless directed to do so by an attorney or a judge, City Attorney Galligan said she would send him a letter~ Parks Director Elliott made the motion that ,the Board recogmzes that the Fire contract states that seniority goes according to alphabetical order when more than one person is hired on the stone date. seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. There being no further business to come before the Board the motion was made by Engineer Miller to adjourn atl0:00 a.m. seconded by Parks Director ElliOtt and carried unanimously.
