HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-04-2003MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA AUGUST 4, 2003 Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were: Councilperson Frantz and City Engineer Miller. Also present were: Planning and Zoning Director Padgett, Personnel Director Ellis, Wastewater Treatment Director Crawford, Administrator Rich Davis, Fire Chief Smith, Police Chief Pavey, Building Commissioner Gavin, Animal Sheltex Director Wilder, Vehicle Maintenance Director Drary, Parks Superintendent Elliott, Redevelopment Director Robinson, Street Commissioner Grant, Sewage Manager Johnson, and Clerk Lynne Mayfield. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. The Mayor asked if there is anyone on the payroll that he or Personnel Director Ellis aren't aware of. CITATION-T.W. THOM CONSTRUCTION Building Commissioner Gavin said Mr. Thom has been notified more than once about the need to clean up lot number 371 in Mallard Run. Engineer Miller made the motion to give Mr. Thom a $250.00 fine to clean up the lot before he will be granted a building permit, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. STREET LIGHT NEEDED Nellie Knowland said a st~eetlight is needed on Magnolia Avenue between Hamburg Pike to Burnside. Engineer Miller said he would look into this. _LIGHT NEEDED Animal Shelter Director Wilder said Ed's Fruit Market was inquiring about a streeflight at his market. Engineer Miller said he would look into it. COMPLAINT Planning and Zoning Director Padgett said he received a complaint about a business located at the end of Fairview Avenue that has a "no track" sign and a neighbor is chasing down UPS trucks. Mayor Galligan said a sign would be erected that states a ton limit. RIBBON CUTTING Engineer Miller said there would be a ribbon cutting ceremony on August 14, 2003 at 9:30 a.m. for the Court Avenue extension. Councilperson Frantz voiced his concerns about possible problems with traffic.
