HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-06-2003MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA OCTOBER 6, 2003 Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:35 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were: City Engineer Miller and Fire Chief Smith sitting in for Councilperson Frantz. Also present were: Wastewater Treatment Director Crawford, Administrator Rich Davis, Fire Chief Smith, Building Commissioner Gavin, Vehicle Maintenance Director Dmry, Street Commissioner Grant, Planning and Zoning Director Padgett, Police Chief Pavey, Personnel Director Ellis, Redevelopment Director Robinson, and Deputy Clerk Lyune Mayfield. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by Fire Chief Smith and carried unanimously. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the minutes of 9-15-03 and 9-22-03 as presented, seconded by Fire Chief Smith and carded unanimously. REQUEST BY TIMOTHY'S Charles Zanetis of Timothy's Restaurant appeared before the Board to request a stop sign at 6th Street and Michigan Avenue. Police Chief Pavey said there have been accidents there. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the stop signs on 6th Street, seconded by Fire Chief Smith and carried unanimously. MEADOW'S SEWER PROBLEM Robert and Sharon Booker of 2705 Bishop Lane came before the Board in regard to a sewer backup problem they've been having for quite some time. Mr. Booker said he has had back flow preventers installed inside and outside. Mayor Galligan said the problem would be investigated again. He's planning to put a flow meter in and shooting an elevation. STREET CLOSURE Mayor Galligan said that Spring Street to Willinger Avenue would be closed for one week to put in a box culvert and to widen Spring Street. There being no further discussion to come before the Board the motion was made by Engineer Miller to ("~; i adjourn at 10:00 a.m., seconded by Fire Chief Smith and carded unanimously. ATTEST:
