HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-24-2003MINUTES OF' THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA MARCH 24, 2003 Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:50 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present Were: City Engineer Miller and Councilperson Frantz. Also present were: Planning and Zoning Director Padgett, Parks Director Rick Elliott, Wastewater Treatment Dir. Crawford, Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, Building Commissioner Gavin, Personnel Director Ellis, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Redevelopment Director Robinson, Police Officer Morlan, Street Commissioner Grant, Fire Chief Mike Smith, and Clerk Lynne Mayfield. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the minutes of 3-17-03 as presented, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. REQUEST FOR DEAF CHILD SIGN Mayor Galligan asked Street Commissioner Grant to put up a "Deaf Child" sign at 1805 Field Drive. He said he would. FRANK WlLLEY HOUSE Greg Sekula of the Historic Landmarks asked the Board's permission to move the Frank Willey House from Spring Street to a vacant lot at 115 W. Chestnut Street. The move will take place May 11, 2003 between 6:am and 5 p.m. A rain date has been set for May 18th at the same time. Mayor Galligan said the house needs to sit two feet above the road for flood reasons. The police department will help coordinate the move down Spring Street. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the Frank Willey house being moved to 115 W. Chestnut Street on May 11, 2003, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. RESIDENT ONLY PARKING Olene Cox of 1023 E. 7t~ Street requested a resident only parking sign. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the resident only parking sign, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. The fee is $100.00 per year. HANDICAPPED PARKING Engineer Miller made the motion to approve a handicapped parking sign at 823 Watt Street, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. 9TH AND PENN STREET Mayor Galligan asked Major Morlan to talk to the residents parking at 9t~ and Penn Streets about moving their cars back so that motorists can see to pull out. Major Morlan said he would. INITIAL DAMAGES CONDEMNATION RESOLUTION # 13 City Attorney Galligan told the Board that the highest appraisal on the Richard Lewman property is $29,100.00. She asked for the Board's approval of the Initial Damages Condemnation Resolution in the amount of $29,100.00 and to set the remonstrance hearing for April 14, 2003. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve damages of $29,100.00 and to set the remonstrance hearing for April 14, 2003, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. There being no further business to come before the Board the motion was made by Engineer Miller to adjourn at 10:30 a.m. seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. Victorian house from ks current location at 105 Sparks Avenue to a new location at 115 W. Chestnut Street, Jeffersonville, IN. Contact Person: Joey Wood House Move Route: House will be moved off its original site to a paved driveway in the rear (south) of the property and enter onto Spring Street from a parking area south of Sparks Avenue, thus avoiding the Sparks Avenue/Spring Street intersection. The route will then be as follows: Spring Street south to Chestnut Street; right on Chestnut Street to vacant lot located bet-ween Grisamore House and Preservation Station.
