HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-16-2003MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA JUNE 16, 2003 Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present Were: City Engineer Miller and Councilperson Frantz. Present were: Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Building Commissioner Gavin, Wastewater Treatment Director Crawford, Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, Police Chief Mike Pavey, Street Commissioner Grant, Personnel Director Ellis, Fire Chief Mike Smith, Redevelopment Director Robinson, and Clerk Lynne Mayfield. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. FAMILY REUNION Personnel Director Ellis asked the Board to approve closing Smith Avenue on Friday, July 4, ;~"~2003 for a family reunion. Engineer Miller made the motion to approve closing Smith Avenue from 8 a.m. till 8 p.m. on Friday, July 4, 2003, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and can/ed unanimously. CITATION Pete Murray of 432 Thompson Street has been taken care of. Engineer Miller asked Fire Chef Smith to have Major Miles cheek out a gas tank in Mr. Murray's yard. BID OPENING SET Councilperson Frantz made the motion to set a bid opening on July 14, 2003 to sell surplus equipment at the IWR (01d sewage plant), seconded by Engineer Miller and carded unanimously. The bid opening date will be advertised. REQUEST TO RAISE SPEED LIMIT Mayor Galligan said the County Commissioners have requested that the speed limit be changed from 35 m.p.h, to 40 m.p.h, on Utica Pike. Councilperson Frantz made the motion to table this until further notice, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. There being no further business to come before the Board of Public Works and Safety, City Engineer Miller made the motion to adjourn at 9:50 a.m., seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carded unanimously.
