HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-18-2003MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA FEBRUARY 18, 2003 In Mayor Galligan's absence, City Engineer Miller called the meeting to order at 9:40 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were: Councilperson Frantz and Parks Director Elliott sitting in for City Engineer Miller. Also present were: Administrator Rich Davis, Fire Chief Smith, Sewer Inspector Lanham, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Animal Shelter Officer Manager Gartelman, Sewage Office Manager Johnson, Redevelopment Director Robinson, Personnel Director Ellis, Clerk Treasurer Wilder, Vehicle Maintenance Director Drmy, Street Commissioner Grant, Planning and Zoning Director Padgett, Police Chief Pavey, Parks Director Elliott, Engineering Coordinator Dixon, and Deputy Clerk Lynne Mayfield. Councilperson Frantz made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by Parks Director Elliott and carried unanimously. Councilperson Frantz made the motion to approve the minutes of 1-21-03, 1-27-03, and 2-10-03, seconded by Parks Director Elliott and carried unanimously. PARADE PERMIT Terry Burgan asked the Board for permission to hold a Multiple Sclerosis Walk on Saturday, April 5, 2003 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. The walk will start in Louisville and come across the bridge into Jeffersonville and back across the bridge. Police Chief Pavey said barricades will be put out. Parks Director Elliott made the motion to approve the permit, seconded by Councilperson Frantz and carried unanimously. FIXED ASSET INVENTORY Richard Crum told the Board he was contacted by Councilperson Ron Grooms in regard to doing a fixed asset list for the City. Clerk Treasurer Wilder said the State requires an inventory list for each department. She said anything valued over $100.00 must be inventoried. Mr. Crum asked ifa bar-coding system could be set up. Clerk Treasurer Wilder said the money isn't available for that type of system this year but might be possible the following year. Mr. Crum will take this issue to the Council on the 24th of February. Sewer Inspector Mike Lan_ham told the Board that there are two chemical tanks on the Park and Ride property that belong to Waste Management. Waste Management would like to pick them up. Councilperson Frantz made the motion to give the tanks back, seconded by Parks Director Elliott and carried unanimously. CONDEMNATION RESOLUTION Moved to next week. CITATION Planning and Zoning Director Padgett said Vivian Walker was cited for property she owns at 724 Goyne Avenue. Her tenant is violating the open storage ordinance and they are parking on an unimproved surface. Vivian Walker did not appear before the Board. L4 focuses on fun and basketball fundamentals. Volunteer coaches are ~ needed. Each June, JPR is a site for the Senior Games. This one week event is open for both men and women ages 50 and over.
