WITH ACTUARIAL STUDY
WHEREAS, on ~,~Z<~. /~' ,1998 the Common Council of the City of
Jeffersonville (the "Council") adopted Resolution No. 98-R- .~..~ recognizing
the Indiana Fraternal Order of Police Labor Council, Inc. (the "FOP") as the
bargaining agent for the City's police officers; and
WHEREAS, on /~c. ~z,, /~,f , by Resolution No. 98-R-~ the City
of Jeffersonville (the "City") and the FOP adopted a contract for calendar year
1998; and
WHEREAS, the City and the FOP are negotiating a contract for 1999; and
WHEREAS, the FOP has requested that the Council and the City consider
approving a contract provision that would provide retired police officers with City
health insurance at the same cost paid by active City employees; and
WHEREAS, prior to considering such a contract provision it is imperative
that the Council be apprised of the effect the provision would have on the City's
budget; and
WHEREAS, the FOP has agreed to provide an actuarial study of the effect
the provision would have on the City's budget; and
WHEREAS, the professional hired to conduct the actuarial study (the
"Actuary") will require information from City personnel records; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the citizens and taxpayers of the
City of Jeffersonville that the City cooperate in obtaining the actuarial study.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the Council and the
City will provide any and all information requested by the Actuary, except
information that is confidential under existing law.
