OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
MONDAY DECEMBER 28, 1998
Mayor Raymond J. Parker Jr. called the meeting to order at 9:30
and on call of the roil those members present were Mayor Parker,
Personnel and Safety Director Harold Lakeman, and Sewage Collection
Office Director Jim Matra.
Also present were: Building Commissioner Bill Gavin, Street
Commissioner George Trembly, Utility Director Steve Tolliver,
Assistant Police Chief Charles Elder, Fire Chief Jerry Dooley, Animal
Shelter Manager Jan Wheatley~ Vehicle Maintenance Assistant Mike Ewton
~ City Services Coordinator Leslie Kavanaugh, Parks Superintendent
Rodger Caldwell, Sewer Office Manager Bob Goldman, Administrative
Assistant Donna Metzger, Councilperson Peggy Wilder, and Clerk Alice
Davis.
LIGHTS ON MARKET STREET
Building Commissioner Bill Gavin called PSI about the lights in the
parking lot on Market Street. They will take a look at this.
SEWER TAP-IN
Utilities Director Steve Tolliver contacted Max Zimmerman about
tapping into the sewer line for the Motel that he is building on
Lafayette Drive Mr. Zimmerman is not ready for the tap-in right now,
he will contact the Sewer Office and let us know when he is ready.
CAB PERMIT
Assistant Police Chief Charles Elder recommends to the Board to
approve Catherine Pfister Cab Permit. On Mr. Arringtons permit he has
to call the Sheriff's Department in Scott County, Indiana after the
meeting today. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve Mr. Wm.
Arrington~s cab permit, with contingent upon the approval of the
Police Department after talking to the Scott County Sheriff's Dept.,
seconded by Director Matra, and carried unanimously.
SPEED LIMIT
Utilities Director Steve Tolliver reported that the speed is being
abused at the plant and recommends putting 15 miles an hour signs on
the property. Street Commissioner George Trembly will put the signs
up.
EMERGENCY AT 10TH STREET LIFT STATION
Utilities Director Steve Tolliver reported that the controller at the
loth Street lift station went out on Christmas Day. Metzger's
Electric checked it out and it might be able to be repaired: probably
at a cost of $15,000.00. Steve checked with Cinn. Tech who has a
controller like ours, it's a CP64 for $4500.00, installed $5800.00.
Director Lakeman made the motion to authorize Steve Tolliver to order
this piece of machinery, seconded by Director Marra~ and carried
unanimously.

BIDS
There are B items up for bids. They are Tilt-Bed Trailer, Single axle
garbage packer, 1982 Ford Fl50 Pick-up. The bids were as follows,
Tilt-Bed Trailer, Michael Gillenwater, 10 Redbud Rd. Jeffersonville,
In. 47130 bid is $86.00. Steven Stucky, 1010 Presidential Place,
Jeffersonville, In. 47130. bid is $106.00. Single axle garbage
packer, bidder is Humpty Dumpty Inc., 1035 Sames Road, Clarksville,
In. 47129 the bid is $350.00., 1982 Ford Fl50 Pick-Up, the bidders
are Carlton Thomas, 281 Lake Road, Henryville, In. 47126, his bid is
$501.00, Frank Clements, 132 N. Oak St. Clarksville~ In. 47129, bid
is $475.00. Jack Bailey bid is $351.00, Donnie Griffin, bid is
$150.00.
SNOW REMOVAL
Street Commissiner George Trembly got a call from the Police Dept. at
11:15 A.M., by 18:00 noon we had 3 trucks out on established routes,
remaining 8 trucks out at 12:45 P.M., Mayor Parker asked George to
keep a log on everything that is used and the time spent on the job.
We used 40 tons of salt.
PARKS DEPARTMENT
Parks Superintendant Rodger Caldwell gave out the new Parks and
Recreation brochure. Mayor Parker thanked Rodger for inviting him to
the Senior's Christmas Dinner at the Ken Ellis Building, there were 53
people who turned out for the dinner.

Utilities Dirctor Steve Tolliver reported that

There being no further business to come before the Board of Public
Works and Safety~ Director Lakeman made the motion to adjourn at
10:00 seconded by Director Matra, and carried unanimously.
