Parker Jr. called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M., and on call of the roll those members preseot were Mayor Parker~ Personnel and Safety Director Harold Lakeman, and Sewage Collection Office Director Jim Matra. Also present were:Fire Chief Jerry Dooley, Utility Director Steve Tolliver, Police Chief Rick Elliott, Assistant Fire Chief Clifton James Jr.~ Animal Shelter Manager Jan Wheatley~ Vehicle Maintenance Director Mike Wathen~ City Services Coordinator Leslie Kavanaugh~ Parks Superintendent Rodger Caldwell, Administrative Assistant Donna Metzger,, Clerk and Treasurer C. Richard Spencer Jr., and Clerk Lynne Kempf Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the minutes of November 30, 1992 seconded by Director Matra, and carried unanimously. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the sewage claims~ seconded by Director Matra and carried unanimously. RESIDENT PARKINS SIGNS Police Chief Rick Elliott recommended approving the signs at 318 and 32B Watt Street. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve, seconded by Director Matra, and carried unanimously. DON'T WALK SIGNS City Services Coordinator Les Kavanaugh reported that Royal Oaks Management (owners of Claysburg Towers) is requesting the city to consider placing flashing "Don't Walk" signs at 14th and Spring Streets. The owners will need to appear before the board and also incur some of the cost. MARTIN LUTHER KING PARADE Director Lakeman reported that the parade will be on January 18th from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. It will start at Spring St.-and National, Spring to 14th St.~ left on 14th to Wall Street to Wesley United Methodist Church. AMERICAN RED CROSS Administrative Assistant Donna Metzger reported that the American Red Cross Donorama will be on December 14th from 10:00 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Ramada Hotel. LETTER Mayor Raymond Parker read a letter from Walnut Ridge Baptist Church commending the Mayor and his staff for alleviating the traffic problems in Bonenberger Subdivision. Page 2 December ?, ~998 THANKS Animal Shelter Manager Jan Wheatley thanked Police Chief Rick Elliott for a job well done. BIDS Clerk Treasurer C. Richard Spencer Jr. recommended that the department heads get their information in on bids for bituminous materials by next Monday. There being no further business to come before the Board of Public Works and Safety, Director Lakeman made the motion to adjourn 10:OOa.m., seconded by DireCtor Marra~ and carried unanimously.
